Well

I'm still riding high on the fact that Scott and I are going to see Live on my birthday. Work has been the same old, same old. New people coming on board and needing to be trained in a cramped office space that isn't efficient for more than 3 people. I still have my total of 3 hours of commuting a day. Not quite sure what I'll be doing tonight since Scott is out gaming at Matt's. Maybe I'll work on some crafts while I watch Oz or The West Wing.

Live

We're going to see Live! We're going to see Live! I got the tickets yesterday at about 12:00:30. Woohoo! Now my big 30 b-day will definitely be remembered for more than just spending it with Scott. I'm doing the happy dance!

Birthday

I found out yesterday that my all-time favorite band, Live, is playing a concert on my birthday. Hopefully, today I'll be able to manage to wrangle some tickets for Scott and I. Scott will probably be too busy to get them himself but I should be able to see Live on my birthday!!!!! I've seen Live several (6 or 7) times in concert and I've only been disappointed once and I think that it was more because of the audience instead of them. Like most fans, I learned about them after Throwing Copper came out with the single I Alone. Since then, I've been hooked. First it was because the lead singer, Ed, has similar brown eyes to Andre Agassi-yes, superficial and silly reason, but that was the initial hook and then the music. Unlike some other bands that I'm a fan of, there is not one album that I cannot appreciate or enjoy. I've been looking forward to their new album coming out and now the concert. So now after playing Live last night while playing with Scott and Matt, I have several songs running through my head.

Memories

My mother emailed me the other night to let me know that my first ever job (cashier at Chase-Pitkin) was officially closing it's doors at the end of this week. When Scott and I were up at Christmas, my parents had informed me that they were closing all around Rochester because of Home Depot and other big name hardware stores. I don't have the fondest of memories from working there during high school and part of college. I was also stuck closing, which I hated. Doing returns was not my thing. I just overall hated being a cashier.
Now what I find rather interesting in all of this is that my college (Southampton College) also closed it's doors the beginning of the academic year 2005-2006 due to financial matters. Does anyone else notice a pattern here? Let me add to the pattern and state that my former job (LSS) was also almost shut down before I left the agency to come to my affiliation. Go figure. Wonder what else will be next?

Productive Saturday

Well, despite not getting the chance to eat Indian food last night due to Scott being caught working late with a project that had to be out, we did get to see 16 Blocks last night-pretty okay movie. Much funnier than I was anticipating. I've been a fan of Mos Def so it was good to see him still doing a great job.
Today has been very productive. I got my ass outta bed early to go to Weight Watchers in my old neck of the woods and I went down for the 2nd week in a row. Came home and got to see Scott on the corner before he headed out to his game day. Happy dance was in style. Got to watch my show that I missed last night, Most Haunted and it was okay-I enjoy seeing Yvette freaking out. Then I headed to Marshall's and Target to get some clothes. Managed to get Scott several new boxers and was disappointed in the selection of business clothes in Marshalls then headed to Target. Managed to do much better and picked up some socks for Scott and some nice blouses for me. Now I just have to find a decent pair of black shoes and maybe some new dress pants. Came home and got to watch some episodes of Oz and worked on a new craft project that I'm making for my mother. Cooked up some great corned beef and spoke with my high school gf-something that I haven't done in a few months. Now I'm watching some George Carlin and waiting for Scott to finish with his gaming pals and come home. So overall, a pretty good day.

Friday

Well, SU lost last night to Texas A & M. Now it's time to just cheer for Big East teams.
Tonight Scott and I are going on a date unless Scott gets stuck at work with some of his projects-hopefully that won't be the case because I want Indian food! :-)
My commute continues to be painful but it should only be for about another month.

A night without Scott

First, I'm tired. But not overwhelmingly so-which is unusual. Second, man can I cook! I just made a delicious healthy dinner for myself. Too bad Scott's off at Matt's or he could have shared with me. Third, I can watch Rachel without any comments from the peanut gallery. Fourth, I can watch the 3rd season of Oz without having to wait for Scott to finish the 1st and 2nd seasons. Fifth, maybe, just maybe, I'll work on some craft project.

Voice from the past

Finally after I don't know how many months, someone from the past actually contacted me. Of course, they couldn't or I should say wouldn't give me the all important information that I wanted or I should say need so it's back to more harassment until I get it.

March Madness

I'm a big college basketball fan and I'm sitting here watching the Selection Show for the National Championship. Now Syracuse is my team and they did an AMAZING job in winning the Big East tournament. They are seated 5th in the Atlanta bracket set to face Texas A & M (seeded 12). This could be a dangerous game for Syracuse. Syracuse also has had a tendency to lose in the first round to nobody teams. But, of course, they did win the whole thing a couple years ago. So far 6 teams from the Big East are in the Big Dance. Analysts have stated that there should be 9. Have to wait for the last bracket to find out!

Crafty day

With Scott gone gaming, I decided to focus on some craft work and even though I didn't work on his anklet, I did manage to finish a project that I've been making for Denise. So now Denise has to wait until I see her to get her belated Christmas present and this will probably be an early birthday/Christmas present for her.
Maybe I'll work on Scott's anklet this week.

Gulp

Well, I just submitted some poetry to my writing group for them to read for our next meeting. All of it was written in college and I can imagine what some of them might think once they read the series. Totally hatred poetry all about killing. It definitely was fitting for the time and it certainly brought back memories for me when I was rewriting it. Also showed me that I really need to get some newer stuff written to submit. Now, I'm off to make some chocolate-banana bread and try to finish Scott's friendship bracelet.

My life

Well, yesterday consisted of ME training the newest addition to my new position. Go figure that I would be training! Luckily, it was just a small extension of what I had already been doing for my previous job so it wasn't too bad.
Met with most of my writing group members last night and went over two people's writings. I hope that it was helpful to both and now I have to think about what I'm going to submit. I'm kinda learning towards a series of poems that I've written over the years but it is harsh. I have a few short stories running through my head. It will just be a matter of sitting down and writing them out. Maybe if Scott goes gaming all weekend I can do it then but then I'll miss him and won't do a damn thing other than veg in front of the TV with the royal family. No, I just need to make my writing a priority and do it.

Another Day, another dollar

Today will be my first full day training in my temporary office. Unfortunately, this commute is about 1.5 hours, hence the previous post where it states that my commute sucks. I have no idea how long I'll be out today since tonight I have my writing group meeting, which should be interesting. And reminds me that I need to get my stuff together for the next meeting. I have nothing new writing wise and feel that I need to either update old stuff or create some new stuff. Oh the joys of working full-time and wanting a different life.

Too tired

Just too tired to write about my days. My commute to work SUCKS-good thing I like to read. I don't like being homeless at work. Someone stole my phone so I can't even have access to that. My computer doesn't want to work properly. etc
Best thing is that I can come home to the royal family and Dungeon Master (and Scott when he doesn't end up working late like tonight)

Just for Scott

Unpacking day

Today it's official, our offices have moved. I have mixed feelings. I've been in the old building for 4.5 years-even though I had 3 different offices during that time. Some have been there for 10 years. Even though the building should be condemned, it will be missed. Crowded lunches and Boggle on the small table. The water wars. The dart games. The overall craziness that only SWs can appreciate. The new space is beautiful (once it will be completed)-great views of the river and the city. Unfortunately for me, I won't have a permanent space for about another 2 months. I'm not a fan of that but I'm trying to be flexible. So today, I'll only be unpacking the essentials in whatever space is granted to me for the time being.

Day Number Two

Well, day number two on the new job is over. I met some new people today and overall it was enjoyable. I do have a feeling that this position will test my patience in several different ways. Tonight the office is being moved. Hopefully, my stuff will all make it over together and intact. Hopefully, I'll have a relatively okay place to rest my ass when I'm in Manhattan until my brand new office is completed. I can't wait-an office with an actual window-go figure!
At least certain people weren't acting like they were yesterday when I was around!

New Day...New Shit

Well it's about halfway through my first day of my new job. I've been here since 6 finishing up the last of some stuff, went to see the new site where I'll be in training for about the next 6 weeks, and now back to my office to pack the last of everything to be moved tomorrow night. Gotta love problems with technology on the first day when everything is supposed to be up and running. Of course, all of this is expected on the first day of a new program...including the infantile yet funny behavior of supervisors (there you go, Cathy).
