Politics

I tend to try to stay away from discussing politics and the bullshit that goes with it but I do have to say something about Saddam Hussein's hanging. I'm not surprised that it happened. I do wish that us Americans would stay out of world politics that have nothing to with our national security or any true threat to our nation. I'm glad that the interview with Gerald Ford was broadcasted after his passing where he stated basically the same opinion that I just stated. I only wish that the powers that be understood that a lot of Americans feel this way and acted accordingly.

Another 4 day weekend

And it's another busy one-I'm already thankful that I took Tuesday off. Tomorrow Scott and I are hosting a game day at our apartment-I want to be social but it will depend on what games get pulled out if I decide to play or not. This is after I spend all morning in the grocery store. Sunday, we're heading back to CT for a Chinese-Jewish dinner with high school friends of Scott's. Monday it's back home and hopefully some relaxation before Scott goes back to work on Tuesday.
So if I don't post before then, hope that everyone has a safe and Happy New Year!

This week's Adopt a Pet

This adorable cutie is Lincoln and he's a Labrador Retriever Mix

Size: Large
Age: Adult
Gender: Male
ID: A023426

Notes: Lincoln is an extremely active and exuberant, two and a half year old dog who has not yet learned how to mind his manners. He is, however, very bright and he is willing to learn for a taste of his favorite treat. Fortunately, Lincoln loves to retrieve and will give toys right back to you to throw again, and again and again. The good news is that this will be a great way to give him the exercise he needs. Obedience training is a must with this guy! He has not learned how to control his puppy mouthing and will gnaw on your hand to protest or get your attention. Therefore, at least until he's properly trained, he needs to go an adults only household. He also thinks it's very funny to jump all over people. We're working on both of these issues and think he'll be a quick study. Adults Only

He's available at the ASPCA

Thursday?

Yes...yes...it's Thursday. I don't know what day it feels like but it doesn't feel like a Thursday. Tonight Scott and I are going out for Thai with Oly and Kim-probably the last time we get to see them before they head off across the world. Of course, with them going where they're going-it gives Scott and I an additional excuse to head over there for a visit.
Seems like all around me people are either having children or getting engaged. Makes me feel kinda isolated and more and more inpatient when it comes to my relationship with Scott. I think that overall, I've done a good job in keeping that frustration to myself and not have it come through in a negative way. I know that I want to spend the rest of my life with Scott and have a child with him. It just becomes frustrating when I want to move ahead in our life and Scott isn't fully on the same page yet. I will just continue to be patient.
This time of year is also depressing for me-several years ago, Jeremy and I were planning our wedding and tied the knot. It's upsetting to realize that I made a mistake in marrying Jeremy-no regrets-but knowing that failure is sometimes overwhelming to me. Not a day goes by when I don't think about the failed marriage and still how angry I am that Jeremy lied to me. I was never an angel in that marriage and will never claim to be. I can only hope that someday I will have complete peace within myself regarding Jeremy.
Okay, enough indepth feelings crap! The royal family continues to be so sweet and cute....well, at least to me. Most still don't like Scott for some strange reason.
With that, I'll be back later with my pet of the week.

Just because it's cute

Ugh

It's back to the daily routine-up before the crack of dawn, work out, get ready for work, eventually get to work, sit there, come home and relax.
Just ugh.

Made Out Like a Bandit

Christmas with Scott's family was good even with the ongoing traveling from this place to another. Luckily the trip up was uneventful. Met up with Marc and headed to their father's home to open presents with him and the rest of the immediate family. Gave Scott a couple of his presents-seemed happy, especially about the book I got him. Then it was off to Jan's to drop off our luggage and then head off to his grandmother's spot-very nice home that she's in-then it was back to Jan's for football, sandwiches, and games. I came to win a game called Caribbean and then won a couple of hands of Mystery Rummy.
Then it was Christmas morning and we were off to Lisa's and her family's home for breakfast and more opening of presents. I received a lot of great books and great dvds that I'm looking forward to reading and watching. Also got some great gifts from Scott-stuff I had been wanting for a while. He received the cross-stitch that I made and he didn't seem 100% thrilled by it-I'm hoping that it was just the intimate nature of it. Then it was off to Marc and his family's for Christmas dinner and football. And, of course, the animals. Marc's a vet and has a whole set of animals-3 dogs and 3 cats. Their newest kitten, Angel, is soooooooo cute. They have a Boston Terrier who decided that I was his newest best friend. I didn't mind except that he sounds more like a pig than a dog-Cathy would have loved him.
Then, this morning, it was an early trip back since Scott had to go to work before disaster struck and I hung out with the royal family.
Hope everyone else had a great Christmas for those of you who celebrate it.

Finally

A 4 day weekend. By the end of the week, I just seem to want to curl up in bed and just not get up.
So today, I'm not doing a darn thing. Tomorrow Scott and I head up to his family's to start the Christmas celebrations. We head back Tuesday morning.
If I don't post again, Happy Holidays to everyone.

Some Winners

Now pick which one is my favorite. These are some of the winners of the ASPCA dog picture competition.

This Week's Adopt a Pet

This little guy is Arnold and he's a Domestic Short Hair

Size: Medium
Age: Adult
Gender: Male
ID: A020527

Notes: Arnold is an adorable four year old cat with a fantastic personality. Arnold is very sweet and loves to rub against his human friends. He has a very inquisitive personality and loves strolling about the cat room, rubbing against everybody and anyone. Petting and head scratches are of course most welcome as well. Arnold cannot wait to get a home of his own where he can roam to his heart’s content and get lots of loving attention. Note: Arnold has tested positive for FIV on one test and tested negative on another. The results are therefore inconclusive at this time, but he should be considered FIV+ just to be safe until the tests are administered. This means he needs to be the only cat in his household. Many cats who are FIV+ lead full, healthy asymptomatic lives. Potential adopters can learn more about Arnold’s condition from ASPCA staff. Come and meet this wonderful boy today – he’s been waiting quite a while for his forever home and really just hopes you’ll come by soon!

This pet is up to date with routine shots.
This pet has been altered.

He's available at the ASPCA.

Is it Friday yet?

This week seems to be dragging for me. Probably because I've had the doctor appointment and then I was traveling all day yesterday. Today I'll be having a busy day at work and then hopefully some relaxation tonight. Then one more day before a 4-day weekend.
Things are status quo all the way around. Been making some progress on a latch hook for my aunt and uncle along with a needlepoint for another aunt. I have received some other projects that I'm looking forward to starting.

Dr. update

Well, it pays to show up early to an add-on doctor appt-was seen early and it went fairly smoothly until the painful procedure-but it's done, the cramping is done, the doctor still has his body intact and hopefully nothing will be found.

Dr. follow-up

Today I have my follow-up appointment-hopefully I won't have to wait forever and it will be short and sweet. For those of you who have left concerning messages, thank you. I do appreciate them all.

Today's work day

(Just for Ramon and Cathy)
Today was our secret Santa holiday party and I really appreciate what my secret Santa, Jessica, got for me. It's all fitting for my nickname that she gave me-Dr. Martha Crocker.
There was the traditional beating down of people...ahem....Ramon. And the good cracks on each other-the group is much more quiet than my previous bunch of coworkers but they are still fun.
The food that was ordered was pretty good along with the brownies that Allison and I made for the group.
Overall, a pretty good day.
Now if I can only find that picture of the underling stabbing their boss......

Finally

A gain at my weigh-in. It was only 0.2 but a gain is a gain and it's what I need to get some of my motivation back. Plus it is really abnormal for me to go so long without a small gain or plateau.
My baking is done along with making some French onion soup, which turned out better than I thought it would.
On the NFL side, I'm beyond pissed that my team would lose to a bunch of crybabies AND I lost money to my dad. Grrrr.

3 more weekends

Before the end of the year. Last night was date night with Scott. We went out to dinner (local diner) and saw Deja Vu. I thought that the movie was better than a lot of critics out there had been saying.
Today will be grocery shopping and relaxing while Scott's off to play games. Who knows what will happen tonight-could be game time for us, could be movie time.
Tomorrow is Weight Watchers and football. Sorry to see that the NFL season is coming down to a close-just a few more weeks left.

This Week's Adopt a Pet

This is Gabriel and he's a Border Collie Mix.

Size: Medium
Age: Young
Gender: Male
ID: A023085

Notes: Gabriel is a typical rowdy, 10 month old adolescent, desperately in need of some schooling to harness his boundless energy and quick mind. He was very mouthy for the handling tests but did not guard his food or chewy. He does not seem to have any obedience training and pulls hard on leash. He is interested in toys and will likely learn to retrieve very quickly. He seems interested in other dogs. Confinement and a walking schedule will help with housetraining. He may be a little concerned about being left alone. Kids 10 and up. He's available at the ASPCA.

And another update

Laptop is home, newer, and now the time of adjustment begins.
Another cat fight this morning....at 4:15am. Not sure what we're going to do. Just wish that it would stop.
Christmas gifts are wrapped and need to be mailed out. Hope that the people who are getting them fully appreciate the effort that I put into them....meaning my brother better appreciate it or there is going to be some serious talking to.
11 days until Christmas and I've managed to finish all of my shopping-did a little something extra for someone close to me.
Christmas plans seem to be mostly in place-should be interesting for Scott as new traditions are slowly being started as families develop.

Update

Well, Scott's laptop is officially gone-Apple could not salvage any data on the old hard drive-which means that Scott lost a lot-game designs, pictures, etc. He's not happy about it but he is getting the computer back tonight with a new hard drive so that's good.
Work is work. Can't say too much-don't really want to either. We are having our little Secret Santa party next week-it will interesting to see if the person who I got is able to guess the reasons behind everything.
Continue to have the lack of drama but full of memories of the past. I still don't feel like I've gotten all of my points across and I still wish, at times, that I could make some understand where they have left me. It can drive me crazy at times but I think that I've been good in not letting it destroy me like it would before.
Royal family continues to be cute even though a fight did break out and consequences had to be made.

Quick post

Just wanted to aid in clarifying the confusion I might have left-in regards to my medical health-I'm overall fine-just some abnormal stuff happening that needs to be checked out.
As for the whale-people are able to adopt whales (humpbacks and killer whales mostly) and the money goes to programs to help educate people about whales and do humane research (in the wild) on whales in order to learn more about the mysterious species. So I adopted a humpback whale named Coral.
Now to my meeting.

Still without the computer

Hopefully, Scott will get his laptop back this week and I can have my computer time back to normal.
This was a quiet weekend for the two of us. Saturday the only adventuring that occurred was my trip to Petlands and his adventuring on his PS2 games.
Sunday was another successful weigh-in for me-down 1.2 for a total of 18.8 in 16 weeks. Yesterday was also football. I was able to see my team trounce all over the Patriots. Then it was baking cookies for my former coworkers while the Jets played an awful game.
I did get some latch hook work done along with a little organization of my embroidery floss. Now it's back to slow days at work.

This Week's Adopt a Pet

This adorable cat is Milo and he's a Domestic Short Hair - gray and white,Tiger Mix

Size: Large
Age: Adult
Gender: Male
ID: A009131

Notes: Milo is a gorgeous seven year old cat with an adorable face. This guy is rather overweight and could use a bit of a diet to get him more into shape, but at the moment it just means there’s more of this lovable guy to adore. You see, this big guy is just about the sweetest and most affectionate cat you could ever hope to meet. He is, in every sense of the word, a mush. He loves being pet and stroked, and will roll over asking for more attention. He never seems to get enough affection and doesn’t seem to have a mean bone in his gentle body. Despite his size, Milo also loves to play with toys, especially cat dancers. One thing Milo is not fond of is being picked up, most likely because of his size. So he asks that you please respect his need to keep his four paws on the ground. Come by and meet this big loverboy of a cat – we guarantee you’ll be hooked in no time. He's available at the ASPCA.

Sorry

To my regular viewers-sorry that I haven't been updating. Been running around at work like a crazy woman and Scott's laptop decided to commit suicide so computer time at home has been extremely limited.
So woke up today and no matter how hard I was imagining that I was on a Hawaiian beach, the frigid temperatures still ripped through me.
Royal family is cute and have a new gift that they have been utilizing-made them a latch hook for them to lie on. Scott kinda suggested last night that I should make one for each of them as they tend to not want to share with each other. Maybe...
Been watching some movies lately-all are updated on my movie blog.
Judged my first book last night-I'm a judge for design for recreational/sports books. I have to admit that it's fun-the little bookworm that I am.
Work has been busy-meaning lots of traveling.
Weight continues to come off even though I've lost a lot of my motivation to do anything about it-probably the hibernation fact.
Scott's still my sexy man even with me not seeing much of him this week.
Healed from a very uncomfortable doctor appointment-shall see how the follow-up exams go.
So I'm still alive and relatively drama-free.

Not a happy camper

Had a really bad doctor appointment yesterday where my doctor found something that he hadn't seen in all of the other times that he's examined me. So what does that mean? I get to have more tests and crap. Damn medical technology.
Other than that, not much else is happening, which is nice.

More writings

Just posted some more poems from back in the day on my writing blog.

MIA over the weekend

I was running around the City this weekend and didn't really have the time or want to post this weekend. Then Scott's laptop decided to not cooperate so when I did want to post, I couldn't.
So Saturday was an early grocery store run where people are just strange then it was off to Staten Island to pick up Scott's Christmas gift-which came out quite nicely if I must say so. Then it was to rushing home to help Scott clean the apartment in time for Oly and Kim's visit. I could have been very delayed if I had murdered this annoying woman on the bus who was screaming into her cell phone. Guess it was a good thing that I didn't take the time to teach her a lesson on respecting others around you while being on a cell phone.
Yesterday was another successful weigh-in and rush back home for football. I dyed my hair-a nice shade of auburn. And I worked on a latch hook for the royal family.
