Here's my final post for the year 2006-hope everyone has a great New Year's! Party safely.

Politics

I tend to try to stay away from discussing politics and the bullshit that goes with it but I do have to say something about Saddam Hussein's hanging. I'm not surprised that it happened. I do wish that us Americans would stay out of world politics that have nothing to with our national security or any true threat to our nation. I'm glad that the interview with Gerald Ford was broadcasted after his passing where he stated basically the same opinion that I just stated. I only wish that the powers that be understood that a lot of Americans feel this way and acted accordingly.

Another 4 day weekend

And it's another busy one-I'm already thankful that I took Tuesday off. Tomorrow Scott and I are hosting a game day at our apartment-I want to be social but it will depend on what games get pulled out if I decide to play or not. This is after I spend all morning in the grocery store. Sunday, we're heading back to CT for a Chinese-Jewish dinner with high school friends of Scott's. Monday it's back home and hopefully some relaxation before Scott goes back to work on Tuesday.
So if I don't post before then, hope that everyone has a safe and Happy New Year!

This week's Adopt a Pet

This adorable cutie is Lincoln and he's a Labrador Retriever Mix

Size: Large
Age: Adult
Gender: Male
ID: A023426

Notes: Lincoln is an extremely active and exuberant, two and a half year old dog who has not yet learned how to mind his manners. He is, however, very bright and he is willing to learn for a taste of his favorite treat. Fortunately, Lincoln loves to retrieve and will give toys right back to you to throw again, and again and again. The good news is that this will be a great way to give him the exercise he needs. Obedience training is a must with this guy! He has not learned how to control his puppy mouthing and will gnaw on your hand to protest or get your attention. Therefore, at least until he's properly trained, he needs to go an adults only household. He also thinks it's very funny to jump all over people. We're working on both of these issues and think he'll be a quick study. Adults Only

He's available at the ASPCA

Thursday?

Yes...yes...it's Thursday. I don't know what day it feels like but it doesn't feel like a Thursday. Tonight Scott and I are going out for Thai with Oly and Kim-probably the last time we get to see them before they head off across the world. Of course, with them going where they're going-it gives Scott and I an additional excuse to head over there for a visit.
Seems like all around me people are either having children or getting engaged. Makes me feel kinda isolated and more and more inpatient when it comes to my relationship with Scott. I think that overall, I've done a good job in keeping that frustration to myself and not have it come through in a negative way. I know that I want to spend the rest of my life with Scott and have a child with him. It just becomes frustrating when I want to move ahead in our life and Scott isn't fully on the same page yet. I will just continue to be patient.
This time of year is also depressing for me-several years ago, Jeremy and I were planning our wedding and tied the knot. It's upsetting to realize that I made a mistake in marrying Jeremy-no regrets-but knowing that failure is sometimes overwhelming to me. Not a day goes by when I don't think about the failed marriage and still how angry I am that Jeremy lied to me. I was never an angel in that marriage and will never claim to be. I can only hope that someday I will have complete peace within myself regarding Jeremy.
Okay, enough indepth feelings crap! The royal family continues to be so sweet and cute....well, at least to me. Most still don't like Scott for some strange reason.
With that, I'll be back later with my pet of the week.

Just because it's cute

Ugh

It's back to the daily routine-up before the crack of dawn, work out, get ready for work, eventually get to work, sit there, come home and relax.
Just ugh.

Made Out Like a Bandit

Christmas with Scott's family was good even with the ongoing traveling from this place to another. Luckily the trip up was uneventful. Met up with Marc and headed to their father's home to open presents with him and the rest of the immediate family. Gave Scott a couple of his presents-seemed happy, especially about the book I got him. Then it was off to Jan's to drop off our luggage and then head off to his grandmother's spot-very nice home that she's in-then it was back to Jan's for football, sandwiches, and games. I came to win a game called Caribbean and then won a couple of hands of Mystery Rummy.
Then it was Christmas morning and we were off to Lisa's and her family's home for breakfast and more opening of presents. I received a lot of great books and great dvds that I'm looking forward to reading and watching. Also got some great gifts from Scott-stuff I had been wanting for a while. He received the cross-stitch that I made and he didn't seem 100% thrilled by it-I'm hoping that it was just the intimate nature of it. Then it was off to Marc and his family's for Christmas dinner and football. And, of course, the animals. Marc's a vet and has a whole set of animals-3 dogs and 3 cats. Their newest kitten, Angel, is soooooooo cute. They have a Boston Terrier who decided that I was his newest best friend. I didn't mind except that he sounds more like a pig than a dog-Cathy would have loved him.
Then, this morning, it was an early trip back since Scott had to go to work before disaster struck and I hung out with the royal family.
Hope everyone else had a great Christmas for those of you who celebrate it.

Saturday, December 23, 2006

Finally

A 4 day weekend. By the end of the week, I just seem to want to curl up in bed and just not get up.
So today, I'm not doing a darn thing. Tomorrow Scott and I head up to his family's to start the Christmas celebrations. We head back Tuesday morning.
If I don't post again, Happy Holidays to everyone.

Some Winners

Now pick which one is my favorite. These are some of the winners of the ASPCA dog picture competition.

This Week's Adopt a Pet

This little guy is Arnold and he's a Domestic Short Hair

Size: Medium
Age: Adult
Gender: Male
ID: A020527

Notes: Arnold is an adorable four year old cat with a fantastic personality. Arnold is very sweet and loves to rub against his human friends. He has a very inquisitive personality and loves strolling about the cat room, rubbing against everybody and anyone. Petting and head scratches are of course most welcome as well. Arnold cannot wait to get a home of his own where he can roam to his heart’s content and get lots of loving attention. Note: Arnold has tested positive for FIV on one test and tested negative on another. The results are therefore inconclusive at this time, but he should be considered FIV+ just to be safe until the tests are administered. This means he needs to be the only cat in his household. Many cats who are FIV+ lead full, healthy asymptomatic lives. Potential adopters can learn more about Arnold’s condition from ASPCA staff. Come and meet this wonderful boy today – he’s been waiting quite a while for his forever home and really just hopes you’ll come by soon!

This pet is up to date with routine shots.
This pet has been altered.

He's available at the ASPCA.

Is it Friday yet?

This week seems to be dragging for me. Probably because I've had the doctor appointment and then I was traveling all day yesterday. Today I'll be having a busy day at work and then hopefully some relaxation tonight. Then one more day before a 4-day weekend.
Things are status quo all the way around. Been making some progress on a latch hook for my aunt and uncle along with a needlepoint for another aunt. I have received some other projects that I'm looking forward to starting.

Dr. update

Well, it pays to show up early to an add-on doctor appt-was seen early and it went fairly smoothly until the painful procedure-but it's done, the cramping is done, the doctor still has his body intact and hopefully nothing will be found.

Dr. follow-up

Today I have my follow-up appointment-hopefully I won't have to wait forever and it will be short and sweet. For those of you who have left concerning messages, thank you. I do appreciate them all.

Today's work day

(Just for Ramon and Cathy)
Today was our secret Santa holiday party and I really appreciate what my secret Santa, Jessica, got for me. It's all fitting for my nickname that she gave me-Dr. Martha Crocker.
There was the traditional beating down of people...ahem....Ramon. And the good cracks on each other-the group is much more quiet than my previous bunch of coworkers but they are still fun.
The food that was ordered was pretty good along with the brownies that Allison and I made for the group.
Overall, a pretty good day.
Now if I can only find that picture of the underling stabbing their boss......

Finally

A gain at my weigh-in. It was only 0.2 but a gain is a gain and it's what I need to get some of my motivation back. Plus it is really abnormal for me to go so long without a small gain or plateau.
My baking is done along with making some French onion soup, which turned out better than I thought it would.
On the NFL side, I'm beyond pissed that my team would lose to a bunch of crybabies AND I lost money to my dad. Grrrr.

3 more weekends

Before the end of the year. Last night was date night with Scott. We went out to dinner (local diner) and saw Deja Vu. I thought that the movie was better than a lot of critics out there had been saying.
Today will be grocery shopping and relaxing while Scott's off to play games. Who knows what will happen tonight-could be game time for us, could be movie time.
Tomorrow is Weight Watchers and football. Sorry to see that the NFL season is coming down to a close-just a few more weeks left.

This Week's Adopt a Pet

This is Gabriel and he's a Border Collie Mix.

Size: Medium
Age: Young
Gender: Male
ID: A023085

Notes: Gabriel is a typical rowdy, 10 month old adolescent, desperately in need of some schooling to harness his boundless energy and quick mind. He was very mouthy for the handling tests but did not guard his food or chewy. He does not seem to have any obedience training and pulls hard on leash. He is interested in toys and will likely learn to retrieve very quickly. He seems interested in other dogs. Confinement and a walking schedule will help with housetraining. He may be a little concerned about being left alone. Kids 10 and up. He's available at the ASPCA.

And another update

Laptop is home, newer, and now the time of adjustment begins.
Another cat fight this morning....at 4:15am. Not sure what we're going to do. Just wish that it would stop.
Christmas gifts are wrapped and need to be mailed out. Hope that the people who are getting them fully appreciate the effort that I put into them....meaning my brother better appreciate it or there is going to be some serious talking to.
11 days until Christmas and I've managed to finish all of my shopping-did a little something extra for someone close to me.
Christmas plans seem to be mostly in place-should be interesting for Scott as new traditions are slowly being started as families develop.

Update

Well, Scott's laptop is officially gone-Apple could not salvage any data on the old hard drive-which means that Scott lost a lot-game designs, pictures, etc. He's not happy about it but he is getting the computer back tonight with a new hard drive so that's good.
Work is work. Can't say too much-don't really want to either. We are having our little Secret Santa party next week-it will interesting to see if the person who I got is able to guess the reasons behind everything.
Continue to have the lack of drama but full of memories of the past. I still don't feel like I've gotten all of my points across and I still wish, at times, that I could make some understand where they have left me. It can drive me crazy at times but I think that I've been good in not letting it destroy me like it would before.
Royal family continues to be cute even though a fight did break out and consequences had to be made.

Quick post

Just wanted to aid in clarifying the confusion I might have left-in regards to my medical health-I'm overall fine-just some abnormal stuff happening that needs to be checked out.
As for the whale-people are able to adopt whales (humpbacks and killer whales mostly) and the money goes to programs to help educate people about whales and do humane research (in the wild) on whales in order to learn more about the mysterious species. So I adopted a humpback whale named Coral.
Now to my meeting.

My new pet

Several years ago, I had received a package on my whale as a Christmas gift from my parents. This year, I've decided to give myself the same gift. So this tail belongs to Coral, my new "little boy."

Still without the computer

Hopefully, Scott will get his laptop back this week and I can have my computer time back to normal.
This was a quiet weekend for the two of us. Saturday the only adventuring that occurred was my trip to Petlands and his adventuring on his PS2 games.
Sunday was another successful weigh-in for me-down 1.2 for a total of 18.8 in 16 weeks. Yesterday was also football. I was able to see my team trounce all over the Patriots. Then it was baking cookies for my former coworkers while the Jets played an awful game.
I did get some latch hook work done along with a little organization of my embroidery floss. Now it's back to slow days at work.

This Week's Adopt a Pet

This adorable cat is Milo and he's a Domestic Short Hair - gray and white,Tiger Mix

Size: Large
Age: Adult
Gender: Male
ID: A009131

Notes: Milo is a gorgeous seven year old cat with an adorable face. This guy is rather overweight and could use a bit of a diet to get him more into shape, but at the moment it just means there’s more of this lovable guy to adore. You see, this big guy is just about the sweetest and most affectionate cat you could ever hope to meet. He is, in every sense of the word, a mush. He loves being pet and stroked, and will roll over asking for more attention. He never seems to get enough affection and doesn’t seem to have a mean bone in his gentle body. Despite his size, Milo also loves to play with toys, especially cat dancers. One thing Milo is not fond of is being picked up, most likely because of his size. So he asks that you please respect his need to keep his four paws on the ground. Come by and meet this big loverboy of a cat – we guarantee you’ll be hooked in no time. He's available at the ASPCA.

Sorry

To my regular viewers-sorry that I haven't been updating. Been running around at work like a crazy woman and Scott's laptop decided to commit suicide so computer time at home has been extremely limited.
So woke up today and no matter how hard I was imagining that I was on a Hawaiian beach, the frigid temperatures still ripped through me.
Royal family is cute and have a new gift that they have been utilizing-made them a latch hook for them to lie on. Scott kinda suggested last night that I should make one for each of them as they tend to not want to share with each other. Maybe...
Been watching some movies lately-all are updated on my movie blog.
Judged my first book last night-I'm a judge for design for recreational/sports books. I have to admit that it's fun-the little bookworm that I am.
Work has been busy-meaning lots of traveling.
Weight continues to come off even though I've lost a lot of my motivation to do anything about it-probably the hibernation fact.
Scott's still my sexy man even with me not seeing much of him this week.
Healed from a very uncomfortable doctor appointment-shall see how the follow-up exams go.
So I'm still alive and relatively drama-free.

Not a happy camper

Had a really bad doctor appointment yesterday where my doctor found something that he hadn't seen in all of the other times that he's examined me. So what does that mean? I get to have more tests and crap. Damn medical technology.
Other than that, not much else is happening, which is nice.

More writings

Just posted some more poems from back in the day on my writing blog.

MIA over the weekend

I was running around the City this weekend and didn't really have the time or want to post this weekend. Then Scott's laptop decided to not cooperate so when I did want to post, I couldn't.
So Saturday was an early grocery store run where people are just strange then it was off to Staten Island to pick up Scott's Christmas gift-which came out quite nicely if I must say so. Then it was to rushing home to help Scott clean the apartment in time for Oly and Kim's visit. I could have been very delayed if I had murdered this annoying woman on the bus who was screaming into her cell phone. Guess it was a good thing that I didn't take the time to teach her a lesson on respecting others around you while being on a cell phone.
Yesterday was another successful weigh-in and rush back home for football. I dyed my hair-a nice shade of auburn. And I worked on a latch hook for the royal family.

Nice to know I still got it

I decided to walk to work today-yes, a little crazy, but great exercise. On my way into work, I was asked out by a traffic cop. Now, this happened after I was already walking for about an hour and probably didn't look that great so this was a nice boost to my ego!

The Queen

This is an older picture of Zeitgeist that I kidnapped off of Scott's page. She still kinda looks like that-just no adorable pink collar now, plus a little more hair (really weight-but I'm trying to be nice).
*Hopefull Scott will realize that I really want pictures of our family on here! :)

This Week's Adopt a Pet

With Thanksgiving last week, I neglected to post an animal. But, I'm back this week. This adorable cutie is Gabriella and she's a German Shepherd Dog Mix.

Size: Medium
Age: Young
Gender: Female
ID: A023249

Notes: Gabriella, who is three months old, can be a bit shy but she warms up very quickly. She did not show any handling or resource guarding issues on her evaluation. She does not know any obedience yet but would love to learn for a taste of her favorite treat. She sometimes stops on walks and doesn't want to go forward. Patience and treats should get her past this. She does not know how to play with toys yet. She likes playing with other dogs. As with all of our puppies, an adopter will be expected to find and enroll Gabriella in Puppy Obedience classes. Respectful kids 5 and up. She's available at the ASPCA.

Feeling Better

After going home sick yesterday, I'm now feeling better so it's off to work I go. Not much else going on in my life-did get some new craft things yesterday-will probably start them this week.
Scott's feeling better too.
Holiday cards are slowly being done.

Illness and Ant Farm

Well, illness has set in again-this time it's my stomach that wants to leave my body-reminds of days past where I forced myself. Don't know what caused it. Just want it to go away.
On the brighter side, I finally got my ants for my ant farm. Yes, I got an ant farm-two in fact. Ants are fascinating little creatures, except for when they bite you when you're trying to put them in their new home. 90-95% of them survived their little journey through the mail and seem to be making themselves at home.

Another Day, another dollar

Yup, it's back to work for me. I'm not anticipating too much chaos...hopefully.
Scott's slowly on the mend-drugs are always good.
I'm continuing to enjoy the low stress life, even though ghosts still keep popping up-guess they have nothing better to do.

Success continues

Just got home from my weigh-in and I'm down another 0.6 pounds for a total of 17.2 in only 14 weeks. Needless to say, I'm pleased with myself!

Low-key weekend

I'm hoping to have a low-key weekend after all the traveling that I've done over the past couple of weeks. So just the basic errands and catching up on some TV and movies that I've had sitting here. Scott still isn't feeling well so I don't know if he'll be off gaming at Morgan and Alice's today. Hope that everyone has a good Saturday and Sunday!

Back again

Scott and I arrived safe and sick from our little trip to CT. It was a nice Thanksgiving/Birthday yesterday and then today was low-key hang out with Scott's dad and brother type of day. I think that we're both glad to be home and see what this weekend has in store for us since we're sick. Hope everyone had a good one.

Happy Turkey Day

Hope everyone has a safe and happy Thanksgiving Day today.

Happy Birthday Scott

Happy Birthday to my fantasic man-hope that you have a great day and I can't wait to share the rest of your birthdays with you. I love you!

Life

Well, today's my Friday for the week. One more presentation and back to the office to deal with what needs to be done. Tonight's it's making cookies to bring to Scott's mom's and then we leave tomorrow morning for CT.
I just read my cousin's blog and I'm going to publically state my opinion-move out. You know I love you and I'm looking out for you-he isn't ready and it's not fair to you to have the mixed messages sent day in and day out-move out and remain friends, when and if he's ready and you're available, you'll be there.
Managed to have a quick lunch with an ex yesterday in between presentations. Yes, Scott knew that I was going to meet up with him. He was visiting from Boston for the day and he's doing well. He was glad to see me happy and made several comments about me smiling and laughing more-my excuse? It's amazing what can happen when you get rid of bad situations in your life.
Things with Scott continue to be on pace.
The royal family is cute-in fact the dame Suzie is lying on me as I type this.

RIP Fatty

Even though I only met you for about half hour, your mom had lots of sweet things to say about you and your long life. I know that your mom struggled with the final decision but if you can somehow let her know that you are at peace, it would help her.
I know that you were given to your mom during a time of loneliness and you really became a best friend for her. Maybe now because she is not alone (dad loved you too), you felt that she was safe to be without you but thank you for the many years that you did spend with her.
Rest in peace Fatty and know that Aunt Jen and everyone else loved you and will miss you.

2 more days

and counting. That's how many days of work I have this week then it's off to CT for Scott's birthday and Thanksgiving with his family. Lots of traveling before then and a possible quick lunch with an old friend.

Review of Blue Man Group

So I took Scott to see Blue Man Group for his birthday-which happens to fall on Thanksgiving this year. I managed to get first row seats, in the poncho section-which you know can't be good. The seats were small along with the whole theater. Luckily I've lost the weight so I was comfortable. The ponchos were good quality ponchos but they smelled of plastic. The show was good, a lot more comedy routine than I was expecting. The music was good. A lot of audience participation which was amusing. Luckily, the ponchos were not needed. I'm still trying to figure out what their mask/make-up exactly was on their face. Scott laughed out loud a few times and he gratiously thanked me after the show so I'm glad that I took him. I'm not sure if he will add on his review via commenting on this but if he doesn't, he did enjoy it.

WAR TIME

BRING IT ON! JUST BRING IT ON AND LEARN HOW NOT TO MESS WITH ME!

Continued success

For those of you who care and have been supporting me during this latest weight loss journey-I'm down another 0.2 pounds this week. Not much but in my eyes, a loss is a loss is a loss. I'm not surprised that I didn't lose more-I really wasn't preparing my meals like I normally do with Scott working late-poor excuse I know but that's what it is. My body could also be finally plateauing off so I know that I need to shake it up a little bit-which I will with going back to eating proper meals and changing my exercise tape routines.

More accomplishments

I keep amazing myself! I managed to finish all of the small ornaments that I was making-now to get them out to who they were made for.
Also managed to make some brownies for Amy's party-hope that they go over well-it's chocolate, how could they not?

Finally

I finally got to see Scott in a clear-headed state of mind instead of a semi-conscious-oh your home kind of mind. We finally got to talk. We finally got to cuddle and watch tv together. Yes, it was only for 3 days but I think both of us felt like it was more than that.
Now, of course, Scott's off to play at The Strat today! But that's cool as him and I will be going to my friend's housewarming/engagement party tonight. Then tomorrow it's the usual Weight Watchers, some football, and for a change, Scott's birthday gift from me. I managed to get front row seats to The Blue Man Group-a show that he's been wanting to see for a while.
So hope that everyone enjoys their weekends and stays out of trouble!

Day #2 of traveling

And with it is lots of frustrations surrounding work. Basically, either people forget what is supposed to be my main focus or they just don't give a damn. So like with any new position there is confusion which I'm hoping gets cleared up sooner than later.
As for things on the homefront, still haven't spent any time with Scott-he's had to be working late and I just haven't been able to stay up long enough to greet him home. Hopefully, tonight will be different.

So cute

This is another updated picture of Eros and Chloe-2 of Lucy's kids.

This Week's Adopt a Pet

This cutie is Bud and he's a Domestic Short Hair - gray and white Mix

Size: Medium
Age: Adult
Gender: Male
ID: A021089

Notes: Bud is a special boy. This adorable three year old cat is a very active and playful cat who is very frustrated at being confined. We suspect that Bud was once an outdoor cat because he has so much energy to expend and just can’t get seem to get enough exercise! Bud would do great in a large apartment or house but would probably go a little stir crazy in a studio size apartment. This playful guy loves chasing all toys – balls and dangling toys and cat dancers – and will just do all he can to catch those pesky things. Watching him race around – and he is not always the graceful feline you may expect – is endlessly entertaining! Once he has gotten enough exercise, which takes quite a while, Bud is more than happy to be pet and stroked. You just have to give him some time to burn off his energy. Bud likes other cats, but his energy level may prove too much for some, although he would probably get along great with a much mellower fellow feline. Bud would be a great mouser or a companion for someone who is willing to spend time playing with him and who gives him plenty of things to explore and play with. In turn, Bud will be an endlessly entertaining companion who will be oh so thankful to the person who finally gives him the space he needs to just be himself. Note: Bud has mild hypertrophy of the left ventricle and mild left atrial dilation. These do not require any treatment but may be indicative of a future heart condition and should be monitored by his future vet.

Just because

Since I don't want to hear Cathy's mouth about me not updating everyday.....
Today is the beginning of some craziness from now until after Thanksgiving-traveling around the city-only wished that the weather would cooperate.
Last night while Scott was over his friend's Matt's for Wednesday Night Wargaming, I had a Ghost Hunters marathon-one episode on DVD and the rest on Sci-fi Channel. It was a good background for me to work on my mom's needlepoint along with sharing the couch with the girls.

Wednesday, November 15, 2006

And yet

I finally finished the needlepoint for my mother-Wahoo! This was so much more than I was expecting. But it's done. I just have to frame it and send it to her for Christmas.
I'm actually quite proud of myself for getting all of my homemade gifts completed with the exception of some small things which I know I can get done quickly. Usually I'm in a rush to get things done and sometimes don't even get them done which then means more money spent on other gifts.
So I'm done and I can think about next year.

Seems like

More and more of our furry children are getting sick. Found out that my friend/coworker's 17-year old cat has cancer yesterday and just found out that one of my yahoo groups mate's 20 year old cat has cancer. To everyone that has a four-legged son or daughter, spend a little extra time with them and give them an extra hug from "Aunt Jen."

Yet another finish

Just want to say that I finished one of Scott's presents. Can't give details as Scott reads this but I'm glad that I'm done and I hope that he appreciates it as much as I've enjoyed making it for him. Love you, hun.

Week life

I just realized this morning how much running around between boroughs I'll be doing this week. I have a couple of presentations to do along with some meetings. Craziness I tell ya, craziness. Scott is also going to be having a crazy week-he's been asked to stay late and do some things so not a lot of Jen/Scott time during the week. At least, I'll have time to get his gift finished without him here....now if only I can stay awake long enough when I get home to do it.

Sunday, November 12, 2006

More weekend stuff

Had another great weigh-in-down 1.6 from Thursday-woohoo! About 16 pounds left to my goal!
Been working on the needlepoint for my mother and the last touches are taking me a lot longer than I expected. Managed to finish the border and the back stitching. Now I'm left on putting lots of beads on it instead of French knots but the needle is too big for the beads and I'm just not in the mood to go back and forth with the needle and thread right now so another day, another time.
Football news-my team had another win today-the bye week that they had a couple of weeks ago seems to have worked-hell, the beat Chicago last week! :)

Accomplishment

I've finished another craft project. This one is a latch hook of a golf bag for my father, who used to play golf all the time. Now that he's retired, I'm sure that he'll want to get back to it. I'm not sure how many hours I've put into the thing, at least 20 but I am glad that it's over. Now to finish up my mother's cross-stitch gift and I can send them up for Christmas. Good thing I'm almost done with it-just have to do the finishing parts of it.

Yet another weekend is upon us

And I'm feeling that it's going to be very low-key. Scott and I were going to go to the Chocolate Show but after spending way too much money in Florida and me still doing the Weight Watcher thing, I don't want to go and deal with the crowds of people in a small place. Jeremy and I had gone a few years ago and there was just too many people in a small place that it wasn't worth the price of admission-of course, the free chocolate was always a good thing but not enough this year for my sanity.
So it will probably be craft day and possibly a little gaming with Scott today and tomorrow will be my weigh-in and football.

This Week's Adopt a Pet

This is Cody and he's a Siberian Husky (one of my favorite breeds).

Size: Large
Age: Adult
Gender: Male
ID: A019510

Notes: Cody is a beautiful, energetic dog. He's a bit mouthy and rude and could use some manners training. He knows a lot of commands: sit, down, stay, come, and give paw! He's a quick learner, eager to learn more for a taste of his favorite treat. Cody is very playful with toys. He was friendly with the toddler and stranger and was unaffected by the threatening people. He is a bit uncomfortable with restraint handling and tries to avoid it. Cody is uncomfortable with people around his food and chewy. The behavior department is investigating how Cody is with other dogs. Children 13 and up. He's available at the ASPCA.

Lunch Club Time

It's my week to have prepared something for the ladies and I'm hoping that they enjoy what I made-I know that they have already enjoyed the VT Cheddar Cheese bread I made.
Also came back from my post-vacation weigh-in at Weight Watchers-I'm actually down. 0.2 but I'm down! I really don't know how the hell I did it but I'll take it!

The Vacation Post

Deciding to spend my lunch time writing about my little trip to Florida. So I landed Wednesday night without any issues. Met Denise's roommate/whatever you want to call him, John, and proceeded to have dinner (homemade burritos and margaritas-yummy) which then developed into a couples' therapy session which lasted about 3 hours. Things were brought to light and I'm hoping that the participants can understand where the other is coming from. Lots of mixed messages and things that I haven't seen. Which pissed me off.
So then Thursday, Denise and I headed to drive around Florida-went to a fantastic bagel shop, went to her former roommate, Byung's house where I met him and his mother. I felt that the whole house just oozed negativity and depression. Didn't help that Denise has been going through some financial bs and was upset about that. After meeting Byung and his mother, we headed to her house to get her mail and then to Downtown Disney where we did a little shopping and a little eating. Got Natalie a great little Chesire cat which she is loving (thanks again Natalie) and some cute little Eeyore earrings for me.
Friday was Denise's birthday and after continuing her financial bs we headed off to Universal Studios to later meet up with John. However, John had messaged Denise later on to say he wasn't coming. Let's just say Denise wanted to feed John to Jaws (the ride that we were waiting for at the time). He did come and we all went on E. T. We then went to pick up my sexy man at the airport and then off to the Cheesecake Factory for Denise's birthday dinner. I didn't eat anything since I was saving myself for the cheesecake! Then it was back to the house.
Saturday, we were off to Mollie's wedding party (she got married in Vegas on Halloween). We met Uncle Gerry, Christina, Denise's parents at Aunt Jan's and then headed over to Jeremy's grandparents' home. The house was in a cool Vegas theme and the food was tasty. Face paint was broken out and no one was saved.....
Sunday, we went to Denise's parents lovely home were Grandma was introduced to Scott along with Daisy (see picture below) and Ellie....the original crackhead. We had some Uncle Ricky BBQ (my request) and some delicious lemon cake (Denise's request).
Monday, it was off to Sea World, one of my usual favorite Florida tourist hangouts. This time, I wasn't thrilled with the Shamu show and that sent the tone for the day. Too much people interaction. We headed off to the hospitality house for some free beer and to the other animals.
Tuesday, we puttered around Orlando until it was time to go to the airport...and man, did we stay at the airport. Our flight was 2 hours delayed and we didn't get home until about 12:30am.
I do have to say that Denise has the cutest cat, Rusty, and the most pathetic dog, Louis. :) I would spend every morning and evening with the 2 of them. Rusty actually gives kisses.
Anyway, thank you to John and Denise for their hospitality. Thank you to Scott for agreeing to come down and meet the rest of my wacky maternal side of the family.

What I did on my vacation

The picture isn't the greatest but this is me and Daisy-Denise's sister.

I'm back

Back from vacation after a 2 hour delay-man, I'm tired. Of course, I still need to unpack which I'm going to do in a few minutes. The royal family looks well taken care of-thanks Natalie.
I'll post the highlights later.

Vacation

I'm on vacation! I'm on vacation! Of course, I won't be in Florida for another 24 hours but...I'm on vacation. I'm on vacation! And after the day that I had today-geesh-5 packets to go through-who would have thunk it. But I managed to get through them and get them to where they had to go. Now tonight's packing and tomorrow's my last minute errands before I shell out $30 for a cab to the airport-almost wish I was on speaking terms with Sal.
This is also going to be the first time since the day before I moved here that I'll be away from Scott-kinda scary to think that I still am enjoying spending time with Scott-with most others I've lost interest in spending time with them-so lucky I am to have him in my life. In fact, one of my coworkers yesterday commented how she was surprised that I was still with Scott and wasn't moving. Go figure...what happens when you find love and respect.
Anyway, while I'm gone, don't play too rough, don't work too hard and I'll be back!

Had to

Don't you just want to cuddle up with him?! This is an updated picture of Lucy's little boy, Eros.

Weight Loss Update

For those of you who care....or are just bored....or overly stressed out and are reading my blog, I'm down 14.6 pounds! Woo Hoo!!!!
Now the true test will start Wednesday night when I land in Florida. When I was successful at doing this before, going to Florida was the beginning of my downfall. Of course, I was also trying to move out away from Jeremy at the time so I know that stress added to my downfall. But I think that I can manage to keep my goal in mind and not overdo it too much. But, then again, if Uncle Ricky is cooking.......

Just received

I just received an email naming me as a judge for a book contest-I'm a little shocked and surprised that I was actually chosen. Guess my work at MyShelf.com has come through!

Just in case

Hi Cathy!

Scott and I got the new loveseat and recliner from Morgan and Alice yesterday-very comfy and Zeit loves it.
It's nice to see the sun back out at 7 am-for those of you who forgot-set back your clocks!
I'm about to leave for my Weight Watchers meeting-let's see how I do.

Friday, October 27, 2006

Ho hum

That's about all that's going on....did stuff today that isn't in my job description but at least I got lots of thank yous from the higher-ups. Also was able to get some of my frustrations out in the open-not like they were any surprises to who I spoke with.
Tonight might be game night between Scott and myself-Me want to slay some dragons!
Tomorrow we're getting Morgan and Alice's couch and getting rid of Lisa's old couch. Should be interesting to see how the kids react to it. Even better, Scott isn't asking me to go in my old neighborhood to get the van-now I get to avoid the ghosts.
Of course, ghosts continue to visit where they aren't wanted-guess they still need to see what happy lives look like.
Counting down the days until I get to experience some warmer temperatures-of course, knowing my luck, it will be snowing when Scott and I get back.
Not much else is going on.

This week's Adopt a Pet

This sweetie is Jude and he's a Domestic Short Hair Mix

Size: Small
Age: Adult
Gender: Male
ID: A020590

Notes: Jude is a wonderfully handsome five year old black and white. Take one look into this guy’s alert, inquisitive eyes and you know right away this is a special cat. His bright eyes speak to an unusual awareness and intelligence, and tell you that this cat would be a wonderful companion. Jude is a very friendly guy and he loves being let out of his cage for a stroll around the cat room and a little bit of adoration from his human friends. Afterwards, is just as happy to plop right down in the middle of the room and observe all the comings and goings. Jude loves to hunt and chase cat dancers and fishing rod toys with feathers. Sometimes, Jude will need a break from play when he's had enough. Give him a moment to be alone with his thoughts and observations, and Jude will be more than happy for more petting and stroking. Jude is a large boy, but it just means there’s more of this big handsome mush of a cat to love. He responds to clicking tongue sounds and his foster mother reports that he loves to sleep right next to her on her pillow. In fact, she says that Jude paw massages her in the morning. "He is truly a wonderful cat and it has been an absolute pleasure to have him in my home." Note: Jude has had some issues with constipation in the past. Therefore, he is on a prescription high fiber diet. He should remain on this diet for life, but the food can easily be bought in vet’s offices and specialty pet stores. Jude is such a wonderful boy and will make a great friend, Come by and meet him soon.
He's available at the ASPCA.

Not much

Not much going on right now-just trying to prepare myself mentally for my upcoming vacation. I'm "dragging" Scott to meet some more members of my family in Florida. Of course, it helps that Denise is celebrating her birthday and our cousin, Mollie is having a wedding party the following day so it's a good excuse to go try to enjoy the Florida sunshine.
As for work, it's there. Nothing new to report other than the sexual harassment-you know who you are!
Crafts are slowing getting done. I've been making steady progress on the Christmas gifts for my family-hopefully will be done in a couple of weeks for the one for my mother.
My reading has been picking up slowly-check out my book blog to see what I've been reading (look at my sidebar).
I've been watching lots of movies and exercising a lot-look at my movie blog to see what I've been watching (look at my sidebar).
I haven't been writing anything lately and need to continue to post my old poems and stories-maybe I'll do that when I get home.
Royal family continues to be cute-really need to post some pictures.
Scott continues to be wonderful-or at least is trying to-gotta give credit where credit is due.

Another weekend

is upon us. Last night, Scott and I went to see The Departed-pretty good movie. He's already off to play games in Manhattan and I'm about to head out to a craft show with my coworker. Tomorrow is my weigh-in and Weight Watchers meeting and football.
Mike-ew...Bret's used tights?!?!??!

How many have you read

1001 Books

I grabbed this from Scott's friend, Shannon. I've only read 46 but I do have several among my 1700+ to be read books. Just thought that it was interesting.

Yet another vet visit

This time it was for Suzie-she has been sneezing and crying a little bit more than usual and Monday morning she had some white mucus coming from her eye-so to be safer than sorry, I took her in today. Clean bill of health-if it was anything, my vet thinks that she's over it and probably was just a cold. However, I do have to go back and get cat food for Tiger.
I really wish that Scott would show me how to take the pictures off of his camera onto the computer so I can show you our children but I guess I'll continue to try to be patient.

This week's Adopt a Pet

This darling is Diva and she's a Rottweiler Mix.

Size: Large
Age: Adult
Gender: Female
ID: A021390

Notes: Diva is a pretty social, four year old dog. She likes to meet new people and is very affectionate with the people she knows. She already knows how to "sit" and shake a paw and is very motivated to work for food. She loves playing with toys and will toss them around and chase them all by herself. Diva does not like to share her food and chewies (and possibly toys) and had trouble with foot handling when she arrived. However, we have done a lot of work on her issues and think she'll be fine in a Rottweiler-experienced home. Diva does not like other dogs getting in her face and will growl, though she is fine passing them on the street. She would likely chase cats too, so would do best as an only dog. Adults only. She's available at the ASPCA.

New additions

I just took some of the poetry that I've written over the past year and put it on my writing blog. Just in case you're interested.

Minor Success

I fit into a smaller pair of jeans today! They're still a little tight but I can breathe!

Also

I just posted a couple of more poems that I wrote while in college.

FYI

For anybody who has been looking for Scott-he's fine-just extremely stressed out at work and he's coming down with something. I only post this as some might be wondering what's up from his last post on his blog.

Gulp

Well, I've decided to create yet another blog-this one for my writing. It can be reached through the link on my side bar. All I ask is that my writing is respected. There will be some very personal things written there and I know that it will piss some people off. I will not apologize for my writing. I ask that you understand that it is my feelings, my thoughts, my words. If you have some healthy criticism, by all means, let me know. I figure that it can only help make me a better writer. I know that I am far from the best writer and that this is all part of the process.

A small update

For those of you who are interested, I've lost 11.4 pounds in 8 weeks. I was shocked when I went to my Weight Watchers meeting yesterday and had lost 3.4. So thank you to those who have given me words of support or encouragement.

Weekend time

Not much to post about my life. Things have happened that I don't want to post about. I'm dealing with it as best as I can.
So the weekend is here. Scott and I are planning on playing some games at his friends Morgan and Alice's place. I'll probably stay for a little bit and then head home and work on some craft stuff-one of them probably being Scott's Christmas gift.
I've been making some great progress on the needlepoint kit for my mother. I'm basically done with it except for the finishing. I've been making some other little things to give out during the holidays so I guess that now it's getting colder, I'm starting to hibernate a little more.
Tomorrow, I have a job interview for a part-time job. I'm looking forward to it. I'm not nervous about it-probably because it's not replacing my full-time job so I feel that I can relax a little. Tomorrow is also Weight Watchers and football. At least I get to watch Miami play.

This Week's Adopt a Pet

This adorable cat is Lady Gray and she's a Siberian

Size: Medium
Age: Adult
Gender: Female
ID: A021155

Notes: Notes from Lady Grey's foster parent: Lady Gray is a true treasure. She will greet you at the door every night when you arrive home with meows and purrs. This loving cat is so well behaved, rarely does she jump onto the furniture and she always uses her litter box. She is happy laying by your feet and will become your velcro cat! Make sure to give her her own special toys as she LOVES to play. She is quite active when she is playing and is amused by the simplest of things. She will carry her toys around in her mouth. She also likes to have her own scratching post. She wants very much to have a loving forever home. She needs someone who will be patient because she may be shy at first and doesn't always like to be picked up. But once you give her her first scratch on her head she will be hooked on you! She has so much love and trust to give. MEDICAL NOTE: Lady Grey has intermittent soft stool in the kennel. Multiple tests did not reveal a cause. She was sent to a foster home in which she exhibited normal stool consistency, thus it is likely the intermittent stool is due to stress. She is on a special diet. In addition, she has a gallop rhythm which was evaluated by a cardiologist. She has a slightly dilated left atrium and ventricle, however no meds are indicated. Progression is unknown and a repeat echo should be performed 11/06. Lady Grey also has inflammed gingiva. A biopsy revealed stomatitis which is a condition that may require frequent dentals and intermittent antibiotics. Please see the adoptions veterinarian if you are interested in adopting this special cat.
She's available at the ASPCA.

Football

In order to answer Sue's question, I figured that I would just make a post out of it. For those of you who did not see her question, she asked if I was a Jets or Giants fan. My answer....neither. I've been a Miami Dolphins fan since I was about 5. That's when I chose my teams based on their uniforms. My other favorites back then were Chicago, Raiders, and the Redskins. Currently, it's Miami and anyone who beats on the Bills (bunch of crybabies). You'll see me cheer for Philadelphia-only because they have Donovan McNabb (a former Syracuse University player). I've been known to cheer for both the Jets and Giants-depending on my fantasy teams and who they're playing. When watching games, I'll usually pick a team that I want to win but not necessarily one of my favorites.

Last week's Adopt a Pet

I was a little busy last week and forgot to put up my weekly pet. So they'll be two this week.
This guy is Nitro and he's an Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler Mix

Size: Medium
Age: Young
Gender: Male
ID: A019629

Notes: Nitro's name fits him perfectly! He's a one and four month old bundle of endless energy. He's looking for an experienced owner who has plenty of time to run with him at least twice a day. Nitro will make the perfect companion for an owner who understands the need for obedience school and lots of consistant direction. He loves other dogs although he plays fairly roughly. He is currently housed with other, rough playing, mouthy, young dogs. He gives them, as they do him, a run for their money. Because of Nitro's high energy, he belongs in a home without any children under the age of 13.
He's available at the ASPCA.

Weekend is upon us

Well, for some of us anyway. Scott's stuck working late on a rush job and I'm home texting a friend and playing referee with the royal family.
I don't have too many weekend plans which is good for me. We might be getting together with Morgan and Alice. Or, we might get together with Oly (you still spell your name wrong :) ) and Kim. This would be tomorrow. Sunday is the usual, Weight Watchers and then FOOTBALL!
I'll be doing the usual running around-post office, grocery shopping, etc tomorrow morning. Maybe Scott will miraculously get up and go with me-yeah right.
So to you all, have a good weekend.

Life as we know it

Okay so that's a line from a REM song and I don't like REM-go figure.
I'm still indecisive about something very major in my life. It boils down to if I'm able to handle the compromises that have been made. Some things I'm not used to and I'm trying to deal with it. Nothing horrible. Nothing that is so unreasonable.
Then there's my depression which seems to have taken a backdoor entrance into my body. It could be because my office has no windows so I don't get a lot of sunshine. I'm trying something different this time around and I'm not looking forward to trying it but if it saves me and other things, then I'll try it.
Work is the same. It's still not what I want to do for the rest of my life but then again, I'm not 100% sure what I want to do. There's writing-which I would really need to go to some classes to be better at it. There's forensic psychology but I really don't want to go back to school-that's more due to laziness than anything else. There's still that dream of watching humpback whales in Hawaii and doing research-but again there's that going back to school and taking courses which I already know that I don't care enough about.
So who knows where I'll end up going on this bumpy road called life.

On a happier note

Today's lunch club was another success. I made Weight Watchers' Black Bean Hummus Pizza for the BK gals. I also made brownies for Amy's birthday which is tomorrow. It was a hit and everyone felt full.
Glad that they are liking the food. Should be interesting to see what Amy comes up with next week and I need to see what I should make for my next turn.

Indecision

What to do?
What to do?
Risk everything?
Forge ahead?
Darkness setting in
Fighting back with all strength
To only have it continue
Coming back ten-fold
Frustrations abound
Don't know what to do

Busy Busy Busy

That's to describe my life! I've been busy at working running around, getting pissed off, and then trying to resolve things that never should have needed to be resolved in the first place.
Then, this weekend is another busy one. Last night, Scott was introduced to some of my coworkers and I was able to meet some fiances, boyfriends that I have been extremely curious about. Scott had the same opinion as me which made me happy. Today, we're running around-first to a book sale in Manhattan, then to the Chili Pepper Festival at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, and then to a surprise party for my coworker. Tomorrow is football for me and a possible game for Scott in the evening.

This Week's Adopt a Pet

This is Jennifer and she's available through the ASPCA.
She is a Tabby - buff. Isn't she just beautiful?

Size: Medium
Age: Adult
Gender: Female
ID: A021858

Notes: Jennifer is a gorgeous two year old cat with an adorable pink nose. This little lady loves to play but is affectionate as well. Jennifer has tested positive for FIV, but is a poster child for how happy, healthy and energetic such a cat can be. Jennifer absolutely loves to play with toys, so let her out of her cage, toss her a cat toy and watch how much fun she will have! Jennifer also loves to have her silky orange fur stroked, and we think you will enjoy it as much as she does. This lovely girl really deserves a home and would love one where she has plenty of room to roam around and an owner who is willing to spend some time playing with her. Strategically placed cat toys throughout the house will also keep her entertained. NOTE: Since Jennifer has tested positive for FIV means that she must be the only cat in her house or share her space with other FIV cats. FIV can only be transmitted to other cats through fluid transmission and does not affect humans or other animals. Many cats with this condition live long and healthy lives – just see what a happy lady our Jennifer is. All she wants now is a home of her own.

Accomplished

I had an accomplishing day today. I managed to get some things organized at work-still a lot more to do but I'm definitely ahead of the game after what I was able to do today.
Scott's off at Matt's playing a game so I decided to take advantage and start working on one of his Christmas presents. I'm really happy with how it's turning out.
Now to get through the rest of House of Wax and wash the dishes and it will be off to bed.

T. O.

For the football fans out there-Terrell Owens, the wide receiver with the big mouth, on the Dallas Cowboys, allegedly attempted suicide via o'ding on pain killers. Now, as I'm not a T. O. fan, and as someone who has been there with depression and suicide, I can sympathize with T. O. It must be horrible knowing that so many in the football community (players, coaches, fans, analysts) can't stand you. I hope that if this was indeed a suicide attempt, that he gets the help that he needs and can actually use this experience as a learning one and not one where he's just trying to get everyone to feel sorry for him. Good luck T. O., either way.

Eh

I haven't really been wanting to post lately. Nothing wrong with life other than both Scott and I have been under the weather. I did beat Scott in our fantasy football match-up so I was happy about that this morning when I woke up.
Work is work. I think that some are realizing things that they weren't 100% aware of before. Which is fine.
Between Scott and I, we had tag team action with Zeit and Tiger to the vet.
My dad's retiring after 35 years at his job. So I'm kinda mixed with feelings. I'm happy for him but it feels strange to say that my 55 year old father is retiring. It's like when you leave home and you're faced with the concept of being an adult. Just another reminder that he's getting older which means I'm getting older.
Things with Scott continue to forge ahead as planned. He continues to be stressed out at work. I continue to be Little Suzy Homemaker or Dr. Martha Crocker as my coworker calls me.

Game time

Well, Scott and I just finished hosting boardgame time-we played Empires of the Ancient World. Now, tell me, how many people have ever heard of it? We played with some different people that we (Scott) don't play with on a normal basis. It was nice to play with some different guys. It was a fun board game even though I really did bad throughout most of it until the last round-but not enough to really catch up. I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy it or not but I enjoyed it. Not enough to really want to play anytime soon but enough to play it again sometime.
Now it's onto Lost: Season 2.

ILL

I read something this morning that has hurt me to the core. My stomach is in my throat. Makes me question things even more than ever before. On the positive side, I'm not crying about it like I normally would have. Guess I'm over that aspect. Now to let everything else go.

Adopt a Pet for the week

This is Artichoke and he's a collie mix. There are more pictures of him available through the ASPCA

Size: Medium
Age: Baby
Gender: Male
ID: A022254

Notes: Despite his deafness, Artichoke is an active young dog who doesn't let his challenges hold him back. He can be very mouthy when he is handled or when he is playing and he is looking for an adopter willing to train him to play with toys and not human hands. Artichoke treated the toddler doll like a toy and engaged in rough play with it. Because of his mouthiness and his high energy level, Artichoke belongs in a household with ages 10 and up. Artichoke was wary of the strange person and moved away with tail tucked, but approached and became friendly as soon as the large hat was laid on the ground. He was unfazed by the threatening people. He is playful with dogs but has a very rough and rude style of play that some dogs may not like. Medical Note: Artichoke appears deaf or severely hearing impaired. He is very friendly and is learning to respond to hand signals. Ages 10 and up

I'm confused

Can someone explain to me why someone who claims that they dislike me continually checks my blog? Mostly it's been on a daily or weekly basis but then today it was at least 2 times when she's at work. I just don't get it. She's supposedly happy being with my ex-husband. She's supposedly making plans on spending the rest of her life with him (good luck to the both of you...you're both going to need it). She tells me straight out that she dislikes me. But yet, and this is what really confuses me, she goes and reads my blog day after day. Again, I have to ask if it's because she needs to see what a happy person's life looks like. Now, I don't mean any harm (emotionaly or physical or what have you) to her or to Jeremy. I just don't understand why both of them-mostly her-continues to look at the past. I don't care about what she does. I just hope that she gets what she wants out of life (family, marriage, etc) without the expense of going through the type of hell that I've had to go through with Jeremy. As for Jeremy, yes I still care about him-he was a major part of my life-but I don't want him back in my life. Sure, if he called me, I probably would answer the phone like I did the last time he called. But I'm not going to go out of my way to call him and interfer with his life-he never would listen to me anyway about what was best for him. So please, go on with your life and stop looking back at the vicious circle/square that we had been in for the past 8 years.
And, if anyone has any insight of why this is happening, I would love to hear it.

Weight Watchers

I haven't spoken about my weight loss journey in a while. So far, I've lost 4.4 pounds and I'm happy about that. Just about 28 more to go to my goal weight and I feel confident that I can do it. I certainly feel like I have more support going about it this time around. Scott's encouraging me more. Denise has always been there...the crackhead that she is. People at work are conscientious about my trying and ask the supportive questions, along with providing healthy lunches for our lunch clubs. I've been making progress on working out more days than not. You can check out my movie blog to see what exercise dvds/tapes I've been doing if you're interested.
I've signed up for the monthly pass which includes using the e-tools on the website which includes going on the forum boards where I've finally found some support in a couple of threads. I've been journaling pretty much everyday and been relatively within my points limit.
So, overall, I've been keeping my goal of looking good for a certain occasion whenever it does happen and just being overall healthier for myself. Hopefully, this will extend to Scott as he isn't 100% satisfied with himself (even though he looks fine to me) and sometimes wants to do something about it.

Fantasy Football

A BADDDDDDD week for fantasy and Jen this past weekend. I'm in 3 leagues with Scott and I went 0-3-I was on the way of winning one of them until Jacksonville clobbered Pittsburgh last night-damn Jaguars! We won't even talk about the pick-em league.....just luckily for me, Scott set it up so we get to drop our lowest week. Unfortunately, I'm up against Scott in one of the leagues next weekend.

Much needed Me time

I had originally planned on helping Scott's friend, Morgan, out by playtesting some of his games today but I decided that it was more important for me to take some Jen time-something that I don't always do. So after getting groceries (almost everything on sale), I headed out to the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens for some R & R. I brought my book and sat down in a couple of different spots and read a few chapters. There were a lot of people in the Gardens and one lucky couple was married today and having their reception there. I picked up some plants to replace others that decided that living with Scott and I wasn't good enough for them. While walking around, I did some reflection of myself and in most areas, I'm satisfied or even dare to say happy about where I'm at.
So now, I'm with the royal family to further relax until Scott gets home from gaming.

Survivor

Thanks to Sue who reminded me that I wanted to post about Survivor.
So Survivor: Cook Islands, started last night and they decided to divide groups up by ethnicities. When I first heard about this, I was a little shocked but then I read an article in Entertainment Weekly which explained that they were trying to get more diverse people on the show. Good enough reason. Now after watching the first episode, I was glad that the stereotypes didn't really play a factor in the show. I won't provide any spoilers but I wasn't surprised with who got voted off.

This Week's Adopt a Pet

This is Cleo and is available through the ASPCA in New York City.

She's a Domestic Short Hair - orange and white

Size: Medium
Age: Adult
Gender: Male
ID: A020444

Notes: Cleo is a wonderful nine year old cat. This long and lean beauty is quite the striking looking cat, but it’s her loving and affectionate personality that will really win you over. Cleo is just about the most loving and affectionate cat you could ever hope to meet. She absolutely lives for any attention she can get from people and thinks everybody she meets is the greatest ever. Cleo loves being pet and stroked and purrs loudly whenever her cage is opened. She offers lots of affectionate rubs to her admirers and never seems to get enough attention. She is still a bit nervous about being picked up and taken out of her cage, but she really does appreciate it when people come by to say hello. Cleo knows she is older than many of the other cats here at the shelter, but she also knows that there are many people who appreciate the qualities an older and very affectionate cat can bring into their home. She does ask that you come by soon and take her home though.

This pet is up to date with routine shots.
This pet has been altered.

Unmotivated

I don't know if it's the weather (rainy) or what but I woke up this morning completely unmotivated to workout or really watch what I'm eating. I am pushing myself to keep my menu today at a healthy level so I don't blow everything that I've been doing for the last few weeks. I think that I can do it-as long as I keep the reasons why I started up again on this weight loss journey in my mind.

Big Brother

27 minutes and the Big Brother finale begins. I've been enjoying watching the All-Stars and definitely have had my feelings about most of the people on the show. And yes, I did vote for some of them to come back into the house. So tonight it's either Mike or Erica. I'm thinking and hoping that Erica wins. I think that Mike Boogie floated on Will's coattails but did do some crucial things when he had to.
Even better, I've roped Scott into watching it also-just like Survivor which begins on Thursday.
Yes, I'm a reality fan and I'm not afraid to admit it.

Moods

For those of who who actually look at my sidebar, you'll see an accomplished face. I've been working on a needlepoint kit for my mother and I've been making some good headway on it. I could probably be finished with most of it by the weekend. Also, I've managed to get some lingering book reviews completed and sent in for MyShelf. I've also been keeping up with my 3 Barnes and Noble classes. I've been debating on making a blog for my writing. I'm hesitant as it really is putting my most personal feelings out there and there are certain people who continue to read my blog and I don't want them reading my feelings.

9/11

I think that about now was the time I was coming home 5 years ago after getting my 9:30am physical done for my employment. It's hard to believe that 9/11 happened 5 years ago. I still continue to think what ifs about that time. I was supposed to have originally gotten married to Sal on May 19, 2001. If I had, would I have left my job at the end of August? The job which was about 3 blocks away from the towers. I know that if I hadn't quit my job, I would have been there when the planes hit and would have been in the rubble, because I would have been in shock and wouldn't necessarily have moved out of the way of the towers when they collapsed. What if I didn't resign from my job at the end of August and waited until HR contacted me regarding my new position? Would I have been there that faithful morning or would I have been getting a physical done? Would I be alive or would I be among the remains because I was trying to help?
Even though I'm not a huge believer in God or whatever is looking over us, I do feel that something was looking over me when I put in my resignation and took me away from downtown.
Looking back at 9/11 and trying to escape Manhattan, I remember attempting to call my parents and once I did, all I told my mother was that I was fine and I would call her later. I attempted to call my roommate/boyfriend Shondu who worked near Union Square and saw it happen to let him know that I was on my way to him. His end of the conversation was, especially after walking about 30 blocks was for me to head home. I lived in the Bronx then. So back uptown it was-people walking in the streets, helping others, and no violence. I finally made it to the Metro-North, which happen to free under the circumstances, and made it to a stop near my house, then I took the bus. Once I got home, I was anxiously awaiting Shondu's return home as the subways were barely working. I watched the news and just remembered that when I was waiting for the doctor and heard about the first plane, I knew immediately that it was a terrorist act.
To all of the EMS, FDNY, NYPD and everyone else who gave their lives or their spare time on that day and following to help NYC rebuild, I thank you.

Why this?
Why now?
Is this the real reason?

Why is it a surprise?

Finally

A weekend at home. I've already done the grocery shopping and now plan on doing nothing by relaxing today and tomorrow-plus tomorrow's NFL time so that's what I'll be doing. Tomorrow afternoon there is a game/birthday party scheduled but I don't think that I'll be attending. Scott's planning on going. Will give me some time to work on some projects-where it be for my clsses or crafts.
Hope everyone has a good weekend.
