Back to stitching

I'm back to my stitching projects. I'm working on yet another gift so no pictures. I started this probably a month or so ago so I'm glad to be getting back to it. I'm sure that the recipient will enjoy it and use it when the time comes.

So cute

Anybody need a mushroom?

For those of you who might remember the leaking wall/ceiling problems that Scott and I had last year, there's more to it. We thought that the wall and ceiling were fixed but found out after the first rain or snow fall that it wasn't the case. We had tried contacting our management company but conveniently the number is not working. So...we just have been living with the walls looking like crap and the mold in the back room which we barely use. We get home last night and notice something coming out of the wall. We weren't sure what it was-kinda looked like a nail coming out of the wall. So this morning, thanks to the growth of fungus, I noticed that it was indeed a mushroom growing out of our wall. I have to laugh about it because if I don't, I'm going to get really angry. So if you need a mushroom, let me know!

We're back

Had a good writing class yesterday...handed in my story...we'll see what the class says about it next week. I had a celebrity sighting on my way to the subway to go meet up with Scott at Grand Central-I walked by Kristen Johnston (3rd Rock from the Sun). I saw her, recognized her, then heard her voice-confirmed it for me.
After not wanting to go to CT-just felt rushed and wanted some time to myself-we went up and went out to dinner with Scott's family to celebrate his dad's birthday. Had an excellent chicken with roasted peppers and Gorgonzola cheese sauce over bowtie pasta-yummy! And a raspberry chocolate cheesecake...mmm...mmm...mmm
Today was the shower and after helping Scott's aunt with his grandmother (she's in an assisted living home) and bringing her to the shower, I helped the mom-to-be with her presents along with a couple of other women. The brunch buffet was yummy and Heather made out very well-lots of gifts.
Then it was back home again. Now to get about an hour of relaxation in before hitting the sack. Hope everyone had a good weekend.

A busy weekend

I'll be going to my second writing class today and then meeting up with Scott and heading to CT. Tonight it's a birthday dinner for his dad and then tomorrow it's a baby shower for his sister-in-law who's expecting twin boys. Unfortunately for the boys and Heather, no homemade crafty gifts from me.
Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Panic settling in

I have my story copied and all set to hand out tomorrow at my writing class. If I'm this panicky now, I can only imagine how I'll be for the class when it gets "destroyed" from my classmates!

9 out of 25

Happy Dance! Shake it to the left. Shake it to the right. Woo hoo! Done. Done. Done. Now 14 more!

Happy Dance coming closer

I've finished all of the cross-stitching and started some of the backstitching on the gift that I've been working on. I might finish the backstitching while watching Survivor. We'll see.

This Week's Adopt a Pet

This talented guy is Sammy and he's a Pit Bull Terrier Mix

Size: Medium
Age: Adult
Gender: Male
ID: A021115

Notes: CHARM SCHOOL TALENT SHOW WINNER!!!!! A skateboarding dog? You better believe it! Led by Elizabeth Miller, an employee at the ASPCA, Sammy attended Charm School, breezed through the basics and headed right for the advanced electives - skateboarding 101! A natural, Sammy hopes to move on to even more advanced techniques and eventually, who knows, his own line of skateboards.....

What the fuck is up with people today?

Did people decide that they were going to be extremely rude and disrespectful when they woke up this morning?
I'm all for equality and shit but is it really fair that in one subway car only 3 women were sitting and the rest were men with their legs spread wide open...like they have anything there to begin with...
Do people understand what it means to have personal space?
Do people understand that saying excuse me or sorry when the continually bump into someone is appropriate?
Do people understand that it's extremely rude to be getting into another person's business or reading over someone's shoulder?
I'm not perfect by any means but times like these, it makes it very hard for me to keep my mouth shut and not tell people exactly what I think of them and their behaviors.

How disrespectful

I just got a look at the "dancing" that our "president" attempted to perform with a West African group. What pisses me off is that he then starts drumming one of the drums-basically putting the performers hands away from the drum with his own "drumming." If you want to dance with the group-fine-it's a learning experience and it's WITH the group. But do not attempt to take over the musician's instruments. That's just rude, disrespectful, and demeaning to that musician, their culture.

Almost done...

I have about another half hour of cross-stitching and then all the backstitching in order to finish the gift. I'm thinking that if I do not go to a writing workshop tomorrow night, I could finish it. If not, I'll get it done Friday night. WooHoo...Happy Dance in the very near future!

Bad girl

I had some time this morning before a meeting so I stopped at Michael's...got several sheets of plastic canvas for future projects. Oops. At least I have had the project ideas in my head for a while, long before I joined the Challenge. So no more until I get the rest of these 25 done...even though I really saw a nice cross-stitch kit that I want to do for my mom...

More progress

I think that I can finish this gift that I've been cross-stitching either tomorrow or Thursday. I did find out that I made a mistake so I still have to do a little frogging. The joys of needlepoint crafts, right?

Putting people in their place

This can be so many ways. The best way is when you know you did it, you know you made the other person mad, and there is nothing that they can do about it. Of course, you could just physically push them out of your way but only good if you're pretty sure the person is not going to react back.

More Stitching

I continue to make some good progress on the gift that I'm making. I'm sure that I could finish it this week. Then it's on to the rest of the gifts that I have in store.

Stitching

After coming home yesterday from my writing class, I picked up the stitching for the gift that I've been working on. I made some good progress on it and should hopefully finish it this week...if I concentrate on it!

1st Class

Survived my first class. I'm one of the youngest in the class. It's about half and half men and women. The instructor seems hyperactive but he seems to know what he's talking about and definitely is there to help us. I volunteered to be one of the first people to submit a story. I have my finished one....somewhere. I just need to find, reedit it, have Scott look at it again and hand it in. The following week, it will be critiqued by everyone in the class. Gulp!

Thanks

Just wanted to thank the new people that have been leaving comments. All of them are appreciated-even the "old" people that have left comments.

Weekend

A busy weekend up ahead for me. Tomorrow I start my writing class. I'm excited but anxious. I am looking forward to it. Sunday, Scott wants to do nothing but I think that I'm going to take advantage of the nice weather and go out for a little bit. Hope that everyone has a nice and sunny weekend.

Interesting

Just went through the test to see how some of the people who took it answered. I do have to say that I do not have any regrets. I have learned from all of my experiences, both bad and good. I would not be the person that I am now if I had not gone through those experiences. As much as I hate being divorced...it's because I'm part of the statistic of divorced people in the US. I don't regret marrying Jeremy. I loved him (part of me still does) and I learned a lot from being with him. As for other bad experiences (od'ing, the fights that I've been in, relationships, college, etc), I've learned from them all. My life is not worth living in regret. I say...you did something, learn from it, and move on. You cannot go back and change the past. If we could, I'm sure the world would be a lot different. Just learn from what you've done, seen, or heard.

Having Impulse Control Sucks

Sometimes I really wish that I had no impulse control. I would love to just go up to strangers, especially those terrified tourists, and scream boo at them. Or just swat cell phones out of people's hands. Or just knock people out of my way. But, alas, I have impulse control...damn.

Cute Moment

Zeit who hates all the other cats here (she's doing better) was giving me the look of "I want to come up on the couch next to you but Tiger (her boyfriend) is there." It was very cute so now I get to sit in between the "love birds." Remember, Zeit hates the other cats!

What do you do?

When things just stop being fun or interesting anymore? You become burned out by the stupidiness and bullshit. I'm sorry to say but I've come a long way and I'm not going to take any steps behind just because of unfair bullshit. Take a look at what others do or don't do and look at the situation. And then come to me.
Needless to say bullshit is happening all around me and I'm getting sick and tired of it. Can't wait until I'm outta here.

This Week's Adopt a Pet

This adorable little guy is Boysenberry and he's a Domestic Short Hair-black and white Mix

Size: Medium
Age: Adult
Gender: Male
ID: A022843

Notes: Boysenberry is a sweet two and a half year old cat who was rescued by our wonderful Humane Law Enforcement Officers. Understandly, based on his early beginnings, he is rather nervous at heart. Boysenberry can get startled very easily by sudden movements, unusual sounds or objects and, sometimes, by new people. After all he's been through, Boysenberry will make the perfect, loving pet for someone with a low-key household and respectful children over the age of 12. MEDICAL NOTE: Boysenberry has tested positive for the antibodies for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) - this means that he was exposed to the virus. It is not yet possible to determine if he has actually acquired the virus. However, FIV is a virus that is contagious to other cats only. It's not dangerous for people or other animals. Cats who are, in fact, FIV+ are capable of leading long and healthy lives. Anyone interested in this beautiful boy should not be concerned be discouraged because Boysenberry may have the virus. However, Boysenberry will need to be the only cat in the household! Please speak to the adoptions vet about Boysenberry.

I'm slowly getting back to my weight loss routine. I actually worked out this morning, the first time in a while. As for the eating...the healthy eating comes and goes. Hopefully, I can stay on top of it.

Stitching

Been doing some cross-stitching on a present. I know that I'm making progress but it doesn't feel like I'm making enough. Ever get that feeling? At least it's one of my favorite themes so it makes it enjoyable for me. Plus, I know the recipient will appreciate it.

Tired

I'm sick of being sick. If it hasn't been one thing, it's been something else. I feel better in regards to the cold that I got from Scott (thanks Hun) but yesterday, I felt so nauseous and even ended up throwing up. I did manage to play a round of Doom with Matt and Scott before my illness did me in. I didn't go into work today because the nausea just did not want to leave my body. Currently, I'm feeling a little better.

Ghosts

Just go the fuck away-no need to wallow in your mistakes anymore. Just let your past be your past and move on in your life.

8 out of 25

Happy Dance Time! I finished the backstitching. Normally I enjoy backstitching but for some reason, I didn't like doing it on this bookmark-not sure why. I do like how backstitching focuses on the details of a piece-makes it all come together. I'll post a picture once I get one taken.

Saturday, April 14, 2007

Backstitching

Lots and lots of backstitching on that bookmark. Finished up one color and will finish the other color tomorrow. Now you would think...2 colors....can't be that much backstitching, right? Wrong. When I post the finished picture, I'll point out the backstitching. So hopefully tomorrow I'll do a happy dance before the game Doom is played.

Congrats

Just wanted to throw out a congrats to my friend Tricia's husband, Bruce for completing his training.

Finally

A morning where I've woken up without my throat feeling like it was on fire. At least it's a nice day outside. Of course, it's the calm before the storm which I am not looking forward to at all.

This Week's Adopt a Pet

This adorable big guy is Hemingway and he's a Collie Mix.

Size: Large
Age: Adult
Gender: Male
ID: A023643

Notes: Hemingway is a very social dog who loves people and playing with other dogs. He is a smart dog and learns commands quickly. Don't let his size scare you away - he just needs a comfy place to relax and call his own.

TGIF

Just thankful that it's finally Friday. A day in the office. A visit from a friend. And a quiet (hopefully the cats won't have anything else in mind) night at home while waiting for Scott to get home from work. Maybe, I'll finish that bookmark today.

Thursday, April 12, 2007

Long Day...finally over

Had a long day out of the office, didn't get a lot accomplished due to no computer. Just means that I'll have more to do tomorrow. Should have an interesting visit with my friend Shondu who's coming into town for the day to help out his cousin. I'm only friends with him because he amuses me. For the people who know me and him, you know exactly why I say that.
Now if Suzie would only be acting normal right now. I wouldn't be having a long night!

Zeit Update

Scott and I are back from the vet-different meds for her but she's alive and kicking. We did have the fun of having to give her a bath when we got her home but she handled it a lot better than I thought she would.

Finished

I'm done with the cross-stitching on this bookmark. Now it's onto the lot and lot of backstitching. Then I shall be done!
In other news, Zeit is really sick and Scott is taking her to the vet tonight. I don't know if I'm going. I won't get into the disgusting tales of what I found when I got home and throughout the day but it doesn't look good. If her end is near, I can say that she led a long and spoiled life (17 years) with Scott. Hopefully, we have some more time with her.

Chugging Away

I continue to work on the bookmark for the Spring Exchange. Lots of fractional stitches! Just one more part and then alllllllll the backstitching.

Better?

Only slightly. I had the whole sexy deep voice going for me earlier today. Just wish that when I did try to speak, others would let me be heard. Oh well. Maybe a couple more days of this and then I'll be back to normal...whatever that is.

Monday, April 09, 2007

I feel

yucky....oh so yucky.
Nope no better today...at least now I'm home with my shrimp roll and egg drop soup. At least the soup should help a little bit.
Hope everyone is doing well!

Sunday, April 08, 2007

Small stitching update

Despite me feeling yucky, I've managed to get some work done on the bookmark that I'm making. The fractional stitches are driving me up the wall though!

Happy Easter

to those that celebrate.
Thank you for the get well wishes. Wish that they were working. Woke up worse this morning. But I have slept a lot today so hopefully that will help.
Scott and I had an okay time at the wedding yesterday. If we were both feeling better, I know that we would have had a better time. The ceremony was sweet and perfect for the couple. Since I'm known for crying at weddings (except for my own-maybe I knew something), a tear was shed. The bride was beautiful and had nothing to worry about. It's been interesting watching the behind the scenes action before yesterday and to see it come together was great. Good luck to them.

Saturday, April 07, 2007

Today

It's off to a wedding and I woke up sick with Scott's cold. Scott's still not feeling 100% so we'll see how long we stay. We'll stay long enough to get some apps (Bride's word for appetizers).

Stitching Update from yesterday

I managed to make some good progress on something that I'm making as a gift so no pictures yet. Soon, I'll be doing another happy dance and feeling accomplished...however, so many more projects to go!

Last Day

Of this week and it's a long one. I left work early yesterday...headache was back at full swing, felt exhausted despite me sleeping the night before. Today, I feel slightly better so I'm going to make the effort in going in and doing what I have scheduled for the day. Then tomorrow's is to attempting to sleeping in...we'll see if the cats allow for that.

This Week's Adopt a Pet

This little adorable fella is Aron and he's a Russian Blue

Size: Medium
Age: Adult
Gender: Male
ID: A023519

Notes: Aron is a people friendly cat who is also an extremely active, playful boy. Because of his high energy level, Aron needs scheduled playtime every day with his future adopter, to help burn off some of that extra energy.

Idiots

You just know it's going to be a bad day when you wake up feeling crummy but yet you still get ready and head into work. But what I love so far about today is that about a block from my apartment, I almost got hit by some asshole who is more concerned about making his left hand turn instead of looking for a person who is walking in the crosswalk with the light in the person's favor. Jackass.

Happy Birthday Mike

Not that you'll see this. Not that you'll think that I actually remembered your birthday after all of these years. But I do hope that your life is treating you well and that you do have a good birthday.

Tuesday, April 03, 2007

Well

So much for Scott and I heading to CT for brunch. Scott's father moved up the time since he made reservations at a different restaurant. It's too early for us to get there and with the wedding on Saturday, it's too much travel for one day. Oh well.
Also...why do people have to be so fucking stupid and not willing to follow procedures?

Monday, April 02, 2007

Holidays

In some ways they are good...for example, makes my work day easier when some of the people that I work with are off. In some ways they are not good...for example, makes my work day tougher when I have questions and some of the people that I work with are off.
A good thing....I'm off on Friday. Bad thing....Scott and I have a crazy weekend ahead: a wedding and then a trip to CT. Gotta take the good with the bad sometimes.

Weekend over

Sigh...another quiet weekend is over and it's back to the grind. Luckily it's a short work week but unfortunately I have a lot of traveling to do.
As for the weekend, really just concentrated on the cross-stitch bookmark and played a couple of games with Scott.
