13 out of 25

Geesh, it's been a long time since I had a Happy Dance! I finished the Americana exchange today-today was the day to ship it out so I'm not that far behind. I'll be mailing this out first thing on Monday.

Received Exchange

This was a Home Sweet Home exchange on a Yahoo group-something specifically made for the recipient. Donna made this for me.

That was a first

I broke my first needle this evening while working on the exchange project. I know that I'll be able to finish it in another day. When it's finished, I'll post a picture. Scott's working another late one so it has been just me and the royal cat family.

PIF

Just a quick post before I get ready for work....Carol is asking for participants for a Pay-it Forward. The deal is...you sign up, post on your blog asking for participants, you take the first five, make something for them, they post on their blog asking for participants and it continues....So...anyone want to join me in the fun? I'll take the first 5 people who comment and state that they will join in the stitching/crafting fun.

Latest progress

Here's what I managed to do tonight as Scott is working late.

Last night

I did work on the exchange gift last night. I think I can get it done in another day or so. We'll see.
Boots did it again last night-found a baby rat and didn't kill it. So Scott and I had to retrieve it and take care of it. Now I'm just wondering where it's siblings and mother are. And why do we have this problem in a 4th floor apartment. Just more joys of living in New York and more reasons for me to get the hell out of here.

No stitching

I had every intention to finish up the seed packet for my Dad last night but after kitting a couple of new projects and making dinner, I decided to go to bed early. Plus since he's not even going to be home for his birthday-no big hurry now! Tonight I WILL work on the exchange project-especially since it's supposed to be mailed out on Friday.
Yesterday-found that things at work continue to go on like they have in the past. But I did get some satisfaction with some news.
Today's supposed to be a hot one...not happy about it. Hope everyone has a decent Tuesday.

This is the latest on the Love Quilts square. I feel that I'm about 40% done with it. I did most of it while watching some DVDs. If you're interested in seeing what I've watched-check out the link in my sidebar.

Today

I did manage to do some work on the exchange project-I had set myself a goal of how far I would get and I actually went past it so I'm happy about that.
Writing class was good-next week is the last one. I'm glad that I decided, with Scott's help, to take it. I've learned new things and have really enjoyed most of what I've done in the class. I would like to go and take some other classes but it is a lot of money.
I've also been thinking about some other things. Mostly about my happiness and my needs and trying to figure out what I'm going to do about them.

My namesake (Oliver)

Well,

No stitching last night-was just too tired. Today I have my writing class but I do plan on working on the exchange project when I get home. Dani asked if the denim was rough on my hands-so far so good-It's not as tough as I had originally thought it would be. Tomorrow I'm planning on just chilling out, watching some DVDs and work on the Love Quilts square. Hope that everyone has a great weekend.

SBQ

Today's SBQ was suggested by Kathryn and is:

When you start a new work do you look for something small, do you look
for another huge project or do you consider your UFOs?

-it really depends on what I have in mind for gifts and timing. If I think that I'm free to start something that is for myself-right now it would be a large needlepoint project. But since I have so many projects lined up, it's hard to really think about starting something new.

Exchange project

Figured that I would post one picture of the exchange project. It's a Patriotic Exchange on a Yahoo group. I'm not sure if the person who is supposed to be getting it reads my blog or not but I figured one picture couldn't hurt. It's a small denim bag that I'm making it on. First time I've done waste canvas. I'm probably about 40% done with it. Another thing that needs to be finished sooner than later.
As for the guessing games...I hadn't initially planned on doing it or giving away something but I figured why not. I will do some other ones later on so keep reading and guessing!

A big Congrats

Netter guessed what I'm making-Nett if you want to send me your email, I'll send you a little something. You can email me at jello1976@aol.com

It's getting closer

Any more guesses?

Weekend

Well, today I'm off to my writing class and will be delivering a huge bookbox to a fellow Bookcrossing.com member-first one that I'll actually be meeting in person. Scott will be off playing games. Tomorrow I think that we're going to try to stay indoors where it's cool and maybe play a game.

Last night

I did some more stitching on the square for Love Quilts-no picture though-doesn't look to me to be enough progress to show.

A lot happened yesterday-long emotional day-where no stitching got done. I'm not going to go into details at this time but we'll see what happens today.

This Week's Adopt a Pet (Local)

This is Mickey and he's a Cockatoo

Size: Large
Age: Adult
Gender: Male
ID:

Notes: Mickey is an adult male Cockatoo who came to us on 1-22-05 when his elderly owner was hopspitalized and no one could care for him. He has been vetted and disease tested with no issues. His is loud as all cockatoos can be. He likes to say "Hi Mick" over and over. He is hand tame with no issues and gets along fine with other animals. He has been exposed to other birds, dogs, cats, children and ferrets.

However, he is considered "special needs" and will require a special owner. We have put $1000's into his care and are at a point where we can do no more medically for him. He came to us with an open fracture of his leg that was never treated. The wound itself is healed, BUT the leg must be covered with wrap monthly to prevent him from self mutilating the area. The vets don't know if he suffered nerve damage, BUT if left uncovered he will open the skin and cause great damage to himself. He has been on psychotropic drugs, but we do not feel that is fair to him as he still mutilates if given the chance (if the leg is not wrapped).

He will be adopted with his cage, toys and all supplies.

There is no shipping and he may not be used for breeding.

Please, please if you can't give him the extra care he deserves, do not apply.

it's only once a month re-wrapping that you can be taught to do yourself, but he will need this for possibly the rest of his life. I would do this for a good friend, would you?

We will require multiple visits prior to adoption to ensure the best fit for him.

He is located in a foster home in Jackson, NJ.

He's available through Wings of Hope in NJ.

This Week's Adopt a Pet (National)

These two are Bill and Jude and they are Lovebirds

Size: Small
Age: Adult
Gender:
ID:

Notes: As the bird world turns....We parrots have our own ideas about pairing up. I'm Bill and my significant other is now Jude. We are two beautiful Fischer's lovebirds. I used to be with another Mickaboo lovebird, but...well, "love" didn't exactly describe our relationship. But we let our foster mom know who belongs with whom, so Jude and I are now a happy couple. I'm getting back some of the feathers I'd lost and Jude is becoming calmer. She even allows humans to put hands in our cage to do the housekeeping and serve our food. Speaking of food, we are both eating Harrison's pellets now, though we don't care for fruits and vegetables yet. We may not be used to a gourmet diet, but Jude was well-cared for in her previous life. At least she showed up at the animal shelter with toys and healthy food in her dishes. I showed up at the animal shelter with..well, I showed up. But now we are ready for Act II of this soap opera, and you get to write the script. Do you want to spend time helping us appreciate hands-on attention? Do you want to give us plenty of toys and fun things to do and just stand back and be our audience? Or both? Hey, we're in love and ready for anything! WANT TO ADOPT? If you are intersted in adopting this bird(s), please plan to attend one of our regularly scheduled free bird care classes. You can see listings of our upcoming classes at: http://www.mickaboo.com/events.php. We hold at least one class each month in various areas of the San Francisco Bay Area (in CA), so please check back regularly, because we are constantly updating our list of classes available. We also request that you bring a completed adoption application with you to the bird care class. Please visit this link to download an adoption application: http://www.mickaboo.com/adoption.html. We also require a small adoption fee for each bird. Please visit Mickaboo’s website for even more information on our birds and adoption requirements at: www.mickaboo.org We look forward to hearing from you soon!

Life

Still having to deal with getting ready for a big day at work-joy oh joy. The royal family continues to thrive-hunting the usual things that cats hunt. Mushrooms continue to grow out of the wall. Found out this morning that some friends of ours are going through a separation. Brings back a lot of memories. Yesterday was the one year anniversary of my divorce. Things with Scott continue to go on. Wish that things were becoming more finalized as we're not any getting any younger. Still waiting for the newest arrivals to appear in Scott's family. Obviously, I'm still stitching. Speaking of which...need to go work on the exchange project.

Progress from last night

Dani has guessed something floral...and she's close but not quite.

Stitching

I've been working on the square for Love Quilts. Haven't really made any noticeable progress-that's why no picture tonight.

Animal Cruelty?

Nothing like walking home and seeing two dogs outside in the heat with no water panting like crazy. I found a shepherd mix and a pit mix locked where we put our garbage. The shepherd was panting and looked thin so as soon as I got upstairs and I called ASPCA to have them investigate. I've never seen these dogs before and no one was around them. Hopefully, this was just a fluke and they actually have loving and caring homes or will soon have them.

Any guesses?

Here's the latest on the mystery project-this is about 2 hours of work today.

Update from last night

Since Scott was on the computer last night-I had to wait until just now to take a picture and post the latest with the square for Love Quilts.

This Weekend

Well, I was going to go to my writing class today but I woke up and still have a really bad headache so since I have to go into work tomorrow, I figured that I should take this day off to relax and work on some stitching. Now to let Scott know I'm not going anywhere.

Look Stitchers...a border

This is the mystery project that I'm having readers guess at what it is. This is the latest progress as of last night.

This Week's Adopt a Pet (National)

One of these is named Patches and she's a Sheep

Size: Medium
Age: Young
Gender: Female
ID: 211638

Notes: Patches is a black and white Dorper mix sheep. She is under 6 months old. Patches is really good 'friends' of Sugar, they would love to be adopted together. Patches is current on vaccinations and dewormed. Like Sugar, she is used to other livestock and likes being part of a flock. We understand her last home didn't provide her with covered protection from the weather, so she is enjoying having a barn for nighttime and to keep her dry from the weather. ADOPTION FEE $80

This pet is up to date with routine shots

She's available at Scruffy Dog Rescue in OK.

This Week's Adopt a Pet (locally)

Love the eyes

Stitching

I managed to do a little more stitching on a project that I asked for people to guess what it was this morning. Not enough to show a picture but like Dawn said yesterday-any progress is good progress.

Another successful surprise

My coworker and I were able to give a surprise birthday shower to another coworker with our program. It went off without a hitch. She was actually surprised. I seem to have a knack in throwing surprise parties. My brother and I threw a surprise anniversary/birthday party for our parents a few years ago-it was held at their home and with several relatives from all over the country. It was a really good party and surprise. I'm glad that Amy was surprised and I'm sure that the gift card that we got her and her husband will be put to excellent use.

The beginning

I have a very busy week ahead of me. Lots of traveling. Tonight I'm treating myself to Rent on Broadway-it will be about the 4th or 5th time I've seen it. Just hope that the performers are decent-I've seen some bad ones. But, hey, they're all better than me! I'm hoping to make some progress on the stitching this week....I need to! The 3 current projects are all due by the end of the month...gulp.

Another new project

Here's the start of my first love quilts square. Not much and it seems to have taken me forever just to get this far. I think I'm in over my head with this one but I'll still going to try my best to get it done.

Reflection

It's almost been a year and as the time gets closer, I'm reflecting more and more. Playing the music, thinking about what was, thinking about the future and mistakes that have been made...again. Am I over it? Not 100% and I don't think I ever will be. It was a huge part of my life in many ways and I've learned a lot about myself because of it.

Surprise...another cutie

Weekend

Another weekend and it's going to be a humid one here in NYC. I have my writing class today and then tomorrow I might go to the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens to look at the roses (my second favorite flower). Of course, after my fall at work yesterday, I'm still a little sore so I might not go tomorrow and stay home and try to relax. I'm fine in regards to my fall-nothing broken...luckily.
